What band/song ripped your head off when you first listened?

Prince, Formerly Known As, etc.. Anything by him.

Prince- Kiss w/ Lyrics - YouTube

For me, and I was in the middle of managing punk and progressive rock, I saw him in a video Little Red Corvette.

I am not kidding you, I dropped to my knees. Holy toledo. What a package. And I don't know how to explain it but it was like he smacked the song around while he still delivered it to you.

Little Red Corvette. wow.

I still love him to this day.

I hope I'm doing this right.

I know... What's not to love, he really is a most creative artist. :)

Me and yes I am going to date myself vs thinking yo mickey youre so fine you blow my mind oh mickey.

One of my biggies where I can remember exactly where I was an what I was doing was Roundabout.

My brain screamed at the layers of sound these beasties got.

Lucky Man would be tied. Oh crap. I can't pick just one.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLAX5vQolNI]Alice Cooper - Dead Babies/Killer (Studio Version) - YouTube[/ame]

I'm always breathless on Alice and the guys. I fell in love with them waaay back when I was a kid and met them when I was hanging in Yorkville. They changed my life forever. Alice Cooper not only got me in a whole batch of trouble with my mom and my dad wink wink nudge nudge say no more, but really turned me on to the industry as a whole. I'm trying to keep this pg 13 here. I actually hitchhiked out to Phoenix and then to LA and got my feet wet out there before coming home.

Now to their talent. Most just know the "show" but they were very talented musicians. For those that don't know we are talking the original band here.

Glen was one of the best guitar players I ever knew. He was jaw dropping mr speed fingers.
rip dear soul. Died way too young.

The two bands that totally blew me away are Kansas and The Outlaws. I have seen Kansas 44 times.

You know they are one of the few bands that I'd kill to see, but never had a chance to. Always wrong time, wrong place whatever.

Are their vocal harmonies as good on stage as in the studio? Because they are unreal.

They are on my kick the bucket list before I bite the big one if I can get to see them.

There are so many, but this was the first one to get me out of a American centric music focus.

I can honestly say I had the pleasure of knowing these gentlemen. Unreal. True genius and talent.

And every concert they brought it to the edge. They really did work at being the best they could for their fans. Vince et al really believed that they had to give it if someone paid 20 bucks to see them.

They were never prima donnas and they gave their all when I knew them. I think they were part of the movement that put the industry on notice that you better be able to back up what you put out in the studio

Oh holy toledo how did I forget this. There are so many great tunes by canucks, but seriously...

Lunatic Fringe. It was another jaw dropping moment.

Hope this works.

Kansas is awesome on stage. What you hear on the record you hear in concert. Steve Walsh still has a good voice, not what it used to be, But who is. Phil Ehart is a monster on drums, Rich williams guitar work is incredible. Billy Greer on bass and vocals is Awesome and David Ragsdale on violin and guitar and backing vocals is a master violinst and brings so much to the band.

First time I heard this one I recorded it on my Sirius Stilletto, shit gets me PUMPED!

To this day it remains the #1 most listened to song on the Stilletto.

Then a few years ago they came out with this one

Funny thing is, I'm not a huge consumer of hardcore/'angry' music, but these guys just pump me up! When I was running on the treadmill a few months ago and Prayer of the Refugee came on, I ran so hard I think I actually left my body and was watching myself run from above. :dunno:
