What band/song ripped your head off when you first listened?

Riverboat Tim Hardin singing bird on a wire....man I can't beleive I'm remembering him but it was the most awesome performance.

I remember stopping breathing at one point because he held this note to the wall. It was unreal.

Changed my life....

I remember exactly where I was when I first heard this tune... June 1965... 13 years old... waiting in line to get into the municipal swimming pool... it came up on the pavilion juke box... fucked me up forever...

For me when it comes to the Stones I think the reason I always loved them was they were the bad boys.

So when I first hit LA well that's a story in itself.

But for me at that time, Sympathy for the Devil. They had released the album earlier in Britain.

Right from the get go you hear.....:eusa_angel:

Please allow to me introduce myself..... and then the tune only gets better. And you just have to love them.

I can't put them all in chronilogical sp? first coffee :doubt:order because basically you can't. Everyone was hearing people at different times.

I hope this makes sense. You were getting bands breaking out at different times all over the planet because of the different stations at the time.

And if anyone can find a video of Lucky Man by Emerson Lake and Palmer. I'll run with that as well.

I remember the first moment I heard it. Hehehe. And I will not discuss this on a public forum. But oh my. I'm just going to say I really liked that song.

I was 15 and crazy deeply in love for the first time. Can't ever bring myself to hear this again.
Funny tho - we eventually met up again and married.

That whole album changed my life. After I got the self-titled and that's what REALLY got me hooked.

First time I heard Black Sabbath (the song) my reaction was "WTF is this?!" I picked up a guitar, and never looked back. Def. made me into a meatlhead

Heard this once (around 1992 or 3?) and became a lifelong fan. I am going to see them LIVE at the Nokia tomorrow night....

How are they without Portnoy? Going to the show on the 22nd.

Seen them twice, once opening for Iron Maiden and the 20th anniversary tour.

VERY underrated band. New album was pretty good, but it's very hard for anybody to top Octavarium, Images and Words or Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence in my book. Not that the rest of their work is anything to sneeze at.

Me and yes I am going to date myself vs thinking yo mickey youre so fine you blow my mind oh mickey.

One of my biggies where I can remember exactly where I was an what I was doing was Roundabout.

My brain screamed at the layers of sound these beasties got.

Lucky Man would be tied. Oh crap. I can't pick just one.

The late summer of 1964; music had mellowed out for a year, since the assassination of JFK. I was a short-timer in thee Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, N.C., living in the barracks.

Once this song hit the billboards, you could hear it booming coming out of all the barracks, because when it played it got the full volume treatment every time.

(The next song to hit the chart big-time was "I wanna hold your hand" by the Beatles.)

I can't say how this song made me feel at the time, but it was universally liked by my Marine Corps brothers. I think we all felt like lonely losers to some degree, and it made us pause to listen.
