What an awful past 2 weeks for liberals

I saw on the Obamacare court ruling thread, very few libs commented. And I can't blame them. Afterall, look at whats happened in the past few weeks:

- USA downgraded to AA for first time in national history
- European nanny states are plagued by riots
- Stock market is a roller coaster
- Obama approval numbers keep slipping
- Obamacare is ruled unconstitutional by US appeals court
- Obama caves on debt deal
- Wisconsin radical unions LOSE in their beloved recall attempt

All this just in a couple weeks. If bad news keeps happening at this pace for the next 12 months, does Obama have any chance at all?

This not a bad two weeks. This is the public verdict on the worst two and a half years in the country's history.

It's just happened to have a light shined on it in the last two weeks.

What makes you right wingers so laughable is that you actually believe that Democrats want to destroy all corporations and the wealthy. It's laughable just thinking about it. What I find not laughable is seeing those on the right kicking the poor when they are already down and out.

We kick the poor.
You coddle and comfort the poor.

Which approach is gonna motivate someone best to STOP BEING POOR????

A great US leader once said the best way to combat poverty is to make people less comfortable in their poverty.

So true. People who are comfortable in poverty aren't gonna be in a rush to change it.

The best way to combat poverty is to keep people the proper skillset that makes them attractive to employers.

That's a bit over your head..since your crowd likes the kicking, killing and hiding the bodies where they can't be found method of dealing with poverty.

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD

How gay? Only 11 trillion over the last 40 years on this liberal idea of genius!!!

This thread is funnah!

And indicative of why the Conservatives will fail in 2012.

It's not the country they care about..it's the failure of the other team.

Gets them practically giddy.

That's not going to go over so well.

Especially since they were and are the authors of this decline.

Your team has been failing us for two and a half years.

They have produced no plan to turn it around, made no attempt to follow the advice of the people they appointed to define and address the problems, have ignored their responsibility to even submit a budget or to debate the budget submitted by the other team and have failed.

With no plan, no ideas, no clue or grasp of reality, failure is pretty much assured.

I would love it if they were helping things to get better, but they are not.

The Democrat Party has succeeded in doing everything they have tried and it is more and more hurtful to us with every success.

If they are so against torture, why do they continue?

Im sure liberals think this is all fair,

they had a bad couple of weeks,

the country has had a bad couple of years.

Whats to complain about.

:eusa_whistle:

Actually it was a successful week. We didn't default and the markets stabilized. Why is Europe your concern btw? If blame needs to be attached to anyone, it is the tea party ideologues who care more about ideology than the country. They are the failures. Repost below:

Requirements for posting, whining and otherwise engaging in criticism of the Obama administration

In order to gain a perspective on why someone could or would have the moral and political wherewithal to criticize the Obama Administration after just a year and a half of governance, it is essential that their ideas and values concerning the past eight years be consistent. To be consistent one must have engaged in the following:

You criticized and condemned the Bush administration for its lack of action on immigration.
You criticized the Bush administration for its neglect of the intelligence concerning 911.
You protested the loss of American life in the unnecessary invasion of Iraq.
You protested the trillions of dollars spent on wars that are either illegal or unwinnable and in the case of Afghanistan largely ignored.
You wrote your representatives to protest the illegal invasion of Iraq.
You condemned and protested the Bush administration for allowing Osama bin Laden to escape.
You criticized the Bush administration on their Medicare drug entitlement that gave drug companies free rein to rob the American tax payer.
You protested the lost of rights in America because of Homeland security and illegal wiretaps.
You railed against a deficit that grew and grew while Bush did nothing but advise shopping.
You discussed race and racial inequities during the Bush administration.
You did not whine about taxes as you drove America's roads and bridges and took advantage of a technologically advanced society.
You ride a bike or take public transportation to help keep America green.
You live in a home that is not part of suburban sprawl and is close to work and transportation so our monies do not only go to foreign nations.
You wrote corporations and congress concerning the outsourcing of American jobs.
You paid your taxes fairly.
You tip your fellow Americans well and support an increase in wages for the lowest 20% of workers in America.
You support stores that support American wages with benefits and fair pay: Costco, Starbucks.
You buy American products: cars, tools etc. and write the business when their products are not made here.
You do not shop in Walmart or other businesses that do not support a fair wage.

If you voted Bush / Cheney whose reduced taxes to the wealthy created enormous deficits, a financial bubble of epic portion, and wasted trillions on war, then you cannot criticize Obama as you are part of the current problems. If you voted for Bush / Cheney the second time around you need your head examined as soon as possible.

If you are not without sin concerning the above, feel free to criticize the Obama administration. As the priests would intone after confession, if you did sin, please now shut up, try to practice the golden rule, oh and buy American.

And most of all, if you did not do most of the above then you are simply a hypocrite.

In each case, "Bucs90" has presented part of the "truth," but hardly the whole truth!"
*******************************************************************************
USA downgraded to AA for first time in national history
- only 1 of the 3 agencies downgraded the US to AA+ (not AA)

USA downgraded to AA+ for first time in national history

European nanny states are plagued by riots
- the riots were largely limited to Britain
- the majority of countries with AAA ratings would be considered European "nanny states" by US standards

European nanny state was plagued by riots

Stock market is a roller coaster
- when all is said and done, the DOW ended at Friday at 12505.76, just 151.44 points below where it was last Friday

The Dow closes at 11269 on Friday, down from a 52 week high of 12876.

Obama approval numbers keep slipping
- the polls show that no elected politician or political party came out a winner

Obama approval numbers keep slipping

Obamacare is ruled unconstitutional by US appeals court
- the court ruled against compulsory healthcare, not Obamacare itself
- a divided panel of the Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit in Cincinnati has already upheld the health-care law in June

The latest ruling takes precedent until accepted or overruled by the Supreme Court.

Obama caves on debt deal
- the Democrats were unwilling to default on the federal debt and subject the nation to the economic turmoil that could ensue, but the Tea Party were more than willing to run that risk

There was plenty of revenue to avoid default.

- John Boehner leadership was weakened as he was forced to cave in publically to the demands of Tea Party

Half of the Tea Party voted for the deal made by Boehner.

Wisconsin radical unions LOSE in their beloved recall attempt
- the GOP lost 2 seats which put them within 1 seat of losing their majority

They are still the majority and may well gain two more seats next Tuesday.

None of that matters one way or the other.

Two things that really WILL matter are the employment picture, and the price of energy and food.

If the middle class still has no hope in the months leading up to the election, Obama is in big trouble.

If things start getting better for the average American, the GOP doesn't have a chance.

Given the above, I think O is in deep shit.

I'm not sure you understand what is happening.

Everyone who is not Obama is not President and has not been President since Obama became President.

Obama has been successful in every thing he has tried to promote up until the country voted to limit his incompetence in the last election. As a result of both his actions and inactions, his creativity and his misunderstandings, his knowledge and his ignorance and his priotization and myopia, the country is spiraling downward into places it has never been.

No amount of rationalization or justification can dismiss reality.

The Big 0 is the worst thing that has ever happened to the USA. Under his guidance, the economy has become stagnant, the tax base has evaporated, hope in the future is fading and our national presitge is on the wane. Old peope fear for their security and young people fear for their future.

Corporations are fleeing the country if possible and are not investing out of fear of what he might do next.

Allegiance to this guy is nothing short of blind and unthinking bias. Wake up and look around. The country is failing and the Big 0 is the guy driving the Ship of State.

There is no doubt that this is the worst two and a half years in America's history. This is worse than the Civil War, either WW, and it is definitely worse than the Great Depression. This is easily determined by all the people standing in line at soup kitchen's to get their first meal in three days. And for the wealthy, my God, it has been a horrible few years. I mean seriously, it's been so bad that most of them are jumping off bridges. Yes, this definitely has been the worst two and a half years in our history.

True.

What an awful past 2 weeks for the Nation, having nothing to do with ‘liberals.’

That the right takes joy and sees political advantage in the suffering of the American people is telling and typical.

Well, I think we can all agree that it's worse now than it was during the year leading up to the election of 2008 and THAT was the WORST ECONOMY SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION. Or so said the Dem candidate for President and all of the Dem candidates for all of the offices in the USA.

I'll give you the Civil War and the Great Depression. We entered the 2nd WW with a couple days to go in 1941 and by the end of 1943, the tables had turned in the Pacific and the Wermacht had dismanteled itself on the outskirts of Moscow and Stalingrad. Arguably two and a half of the best years ever.

At least in most of our bad times the wounds have not been self inflicted.

Many of those things are awful for the entire nation, not just the left.

On the plus side, Obamacare being struck down should benefit alot of businesses.

The funniest aspect of this thread is after repeated republican failures, some still follow. Anyone who wonders about the power Jim Jones had over his followers should only view republicans in America today. And they don't even need spiked koolaid.

Brief history of the last century and beginning of present.

Coolidge / Hoover - Banks collapse, economy collapses
Great Depression begins - Hoover ineffective
Hoover a businessman gets advice from the wealthy and National Association of Manufacturers.
Hoover fails completely.
FDR rescues the nation from Great Depression, creates regulatory structure
FDR creates the greatest single asset for all Americans: Social Security
FDR masterfully fought WWII along with Churchill and help from Stalin

America's youth gain power prestige and purchasing power
Advertising, aka propaganda, grows as TV replaces radio
Kennedy reduces taxes for wealthy
Battle for space with Russia consumes America's resources
Blacks decide waiting any longer for equality is too long
LBJ foolishly listens to war cries concerning domino effect and tragically involves US in Nam
LBJ advances civil rights and extended welfare so all Americans can have a little of the pie
LBJ creates the second great help for all Americans, Medicare
Anti war demonstrations change attitudes and diminish LBJ social achievements
Nixon has secret plan for ending Vietnam but paranoid personality ruins administration
Nixon opens up trade to China and negotiates with Mother Russia
Fear of loss causes Watergate
Carter inherits stagflation economy from Nixon / Ford
Carter supports Afghanistan against Russian occupation, seeds are set for growth of insurgency terrorism

GH Bush losses as Republican policy fail the nation once again
Clinton raises taxes, economy recovers aided by millennium and Internet bubble
Clinton buys into financial nonsense, supporting NAFTA, regulatory and welfare reform
Armies of money and power go after Clinton on healthcare proposal, spending publicly and privately millions
Clinton moves right and sells out progressive values
Blow jobs fill the news and hide reality
Bush-Gore election goes to Bush as SCOTUS has moved from liberal to fascist
Bush proves inept in all ways, but 911 attack creates fear and more war cries
Bush proves himself an incompetent leader who creates massive debt and death
Bush Jr fails completely
Clinton surplus is squandered on tax relief primarily for the wealthy
'War on Terror' clouds the mind of America creating contradictory values
Bush as Reagan did grows government and creates massive debt

National Association of Manufacturers today own congress due to need for cash
Economy collapses under Bush and bailouts are once again required after a republican administration
One in four children in America suffers hunger. Poverty increase again under republicans
Obama wins election for 'change' due to the total failure of Bush and the republicans
Armies of money and power again mount offensive attacking the American values of justice and fairness represented by Obama
Obama passes Healthcare policy, tries to keep promises on wars
America is too scared to live up to its principles and creates military tribunals
DADT is removed but Obama shows no guts as billions are squandered on Bush's tax policy that failed completely
Wieners fill the news and hide reality
Once again the economy is sorta moving in the right direction but the armies of money and power are greater today and propaganda and revisionist history have gained large footholds in the minds of the uneducated....

And so it goes....republicans fail democrats try....it would seem republican humans never learn....

Again, what does any of that have to do with our current inept, incompetent and impotent leader and his ongoing failure across 2 and one half years?
