WH ready to drop "public option"?

I believe Obama will end up settling for "insurance reform", which means he'll force the "risk managers" i.e., insurance companies, to increase risks and start losing money. Then the government will subsidize, and finally step in to run the companies. THEN you'll have single payer socialized medicine, which is what Obama wants.

This is just a head fake so he can go the other way.
I hope you're right.

I don't. I hope it goes away.

What would happen if politicians, all of them, just simply told the truth to begin with? What a crock.

"Democrats Turn on Obama in Fight Over 'Public Option'

Monday, August 17, 2009 1:06 PM

By: David A. Patten

Democrats rather than Republicans are now officially the No. 1 threat to President Obama's healthcare reform plans, as conservative blue dogs battle party progressives over the so-called "public option" that opponents see as an incremental step toward single-payer, social healthcare.

Faced with unrelenting town hall protests and polls indicating the body politic has gone into cardiac arrest on the issue, President Obama has been signaling his willingness to back off of government-subsidized healthcare. "

I'm feeling better and better. Defeat this goon early and often and he's a lame duck come mid-terms.

The truth is Bush and the Republicans already tried to destroy America. The evangelicals are steadily working at it. Your problem is that Obama isn't the "white" color. You are a shining example of the current level of Republican sophistication.

Liberals get so tired of having to take care of uneducated Republicans because they can't take care of themselves. What sad and bitter people are the Republicans.

White House public option ploy: A trial balloon, not a white flag

Do you believe the Sunday spin on the White House’s alleged “retreat” from the Obamacare public option?

Video of HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’s pooh-poohing of the public option provision is here.

Drudge illustrated the AP story with a white flag.

Politico says the White House has “backed away.”

I’m not buying the hype. Are you?

The real Obama is a declared proponent of single-payer and universal health care Trojan Horses. All else is political theater.

Late Sunday, the health care czar’s office said Sebelius “misspoke.”

It’s not a misstatement. It’s not a surrender flag. It’s a trial balloon to measure the potential nutroots backlash versus the potential Senate pick-ups.

Besides, the public option provision can always be stuffed back in via a 3am manager’s amendment or during the House/Senate conference to reconcile each chamber’s Obamacare bills.

As for Democrat Sen. Kent Conrad’s health care “co-op” idea, the devil — as always — is in the details.

Edmund Haislmaier pointed out a few weeks ago at The Foundry:

If by health care “co-op,” Congress means allowing private associations to collectively buy health insurance for their members or operate a health insurance exchange, or allowing people to buy health insurance from a non-profit, member-owned private insurer, then those would be positive, pro-consumer developments.

However, simply slapping the word “cooperative” onto a new “insurer,” but then specifying that the government — not the policyholders — picks the board of directors (as Sen. Schumer wants), or that taxpayers will subsidize it, or that it has to pay doctors and hospitals at Medicare rates, would just be an exercise in trying to disguise a “public plan.”

Distrust and verify.

Howard Dean on CBS this morning:

“It will pass with the public option,” he said, “and the president will sign it sometime in December.”

In the history of this country, what function has daddy gubmint ever performed or provided efficiently and with affordability?

Actually, just about all of them.

The Post Office, which you people seem to have some sort of vendetta against, has delivered mail to hundreds of millions of people for decades for very little money, and relatively few mistakes relative to volume.

In fact, I've had a lot more packages "dissapear" when sent through FedEx or UPS than when handled by the post office.

Oh sure, Fedex is faster, but they're also a hell of a lot more expensive.

And of course, now that e-mail exists, the post office is failing, as most of their existing infrastructure is set up for delivering "snail-mail".

More to the point though, getting health care through Medicare (a "gubmint") program, is 15% cheaper per patient than getting health care through private industry.

That's a fact. Which makes it more efficient than it's private counterparts.

And I don't know even one person on Medicare willing to give it up, do you?

Cons don't care about America, they just care about their party winning.

Thanks for showing everyone your true colors.

No no. Your mistake.

It's because conservatives care deeply about America that they want President Obama defeated electorally and in terms of any further policy gains.

He is the menace. Electorally defeating his ass is the cure.

Yeah, it's so strange that most Americans were in support of this whole universal health care thing when he told them he was going to implement it during the campaign.

Yep, everybody was happy with it, right up until the point that the right-wing propaganda machine started telling massive lies about it. With the help of their corporate sponsors of course.

They spread so many lies that they fooled a whole bunch of un-informed older folks into changing their mind. Way to take advantage of senility, and old people's fear of dying.

That's good work. I have to admit, you people are excellent at playing the fear game.

Of course, cons really care about what Americans want, as long as they want the same thing they do. If they don't want the same thing they do, they'll lie, cheat and steal in order to convince them they do.

And, by the way, if you cared about America, you wouldn't have been wasting all that Medicare and Social Security money on the defense budget for the past 30+ years.

Yeah, that's right, I said it. Where'd all the Social Security money and Medicare money go? Hmmm, what are the 3 biggest expenditures in the national budget? SS, Medicare and.... Defense.

We spend more than the rest of the world combined on defense, so yeah, if anyone wants to know where all the money went. That'd be the place. During Republican administrations mind you.

Well then who was it that raised defense spending to those levels, hmmm?

Who was it that took the money from Social Security and Medcaid to pay for them?

If the asshat fits, Bush and friends should wear it.

Sooo.... if you're looking for the money trail for the SS and Medicare money, just look for the guys from Halliburton that are wiping their asses with toilet paper they made from your tax dollars.

But who said Bush was a racist? I certainly didn't.

The quoted post calims that the problem with Barry Obolshevik's idiotic agenda is about color, when nobody but that poster has brought up ethnicity......Strike 1!!

More than 2/3 of Shrubbie's increases in spending were on the DOMESTIC side of the ledger...Strike 2!!!

Money has been expropriated for Socialist Insecurity and Medicare for do-dooger giveaway programs for decades now...COUNTING DEMOCRATS...SWING AND A MISS, GRAB SOME BENCH!!

Actually I'll take this as a strike. I mistakenly saw your reply as being to me. My bad. I still don't think Bush was a racist though.

More than 2/3 of Shrubbie's increases in spending were on the DOMESTIC side of the ledger...Strike 2!!

I won't take this one though, as the defense budget has been ridiculously high for no good reason and has been raised by consecutive Republican administrations for some time now.

Even if 2/3 of the ledger was domestic, which I'm sure does not include the cost of the Iraq War, that still means that Bush upped defense spending by a massive amount, and he definitely took money from the SS budget to do it.

Money has been expropriated for Socialist Insecurity and Medicare for do-dooger giveaway programs for decades now...COUNTING DEMOCRATS...SWING AND A MISS, GRAB SOME BENCH!!

And has been going to unecessary defense spending. Period. And the only people that raised defense spending, which uses 30 times as much of the budget as any "do gooder" programs, as they dipped into SS in the past 30 years were...

Republicans.

I hate to mix metaphors, but check and mate.
