how does this affect the average survivor of Dar Fur's madness?

daily calorie intake has to be reduced from 2,100 to 1,050.... that's about two of those coked-up coffees people get from starbucks.

women who could barely provide enough breast milk for their babies will definitely not be able to make enough now. babies will get even more sick, mortality rate likely to rise significantly.

more bodies pile up. more people, already cowed by rape, torture and violence starve to death and perish from preventable diseases. The US donates generously, but no one else does, save for the Italians, who are being taken over by that crypto communist here soon.

what a wonderful world we live in. i want to scream but i'm on watch and there's about 7 officers and senior NCO's around my watch station.

I think Dafur will be saved. George Clooney and his dad have been there and made the world aware of the horror.

No such luck. You'd have to have all of Hollywood, Congress and a few foreign soccer players over there to witness what's going on before you'd have any substantial public outcry with a chance of beating the gov't inertia towards inaction.

The targeted tribes of Dar Fur are SOL.

Stomach-turning to think there's no money for this when there seems to be a never-ending credit card to wage war.

Indeed. If we are fighting a War on Terrorism, then Sudan's government, which hosted OBL and is actively using a terrorist militia to wipe out all non-Muslims in Darfur, should be next on the list.

I'm not speaking about it from a WOT or military perspective. I'm speaking about it from a human perspective.

But either way, would be nice to see some substantive help given.

Stomach-turning to see all the "human rights" champions of the world (Japan, EU, Latin America, Canada) failing to donate significant sums to back up their talk with action.

I don't know what each nation pledged versus what they actually gave, though.

Almost the same article with a bit more detail.

It doesn't matter--China needs the oil, Irans too for that matter. Makes ya wonder who the real super power is these days.
