Western ballads. I love 'em! They have been around for several hundred years and probably will be here for at least several hundred more. Remember Marty Robbins and all the great ones he sang? His most famous one was "El Paso," but there were many others, such as "Big Iron," "Strawberry Roan" and "Running Gun." There was often a common theme to many of these ballads - the outlaw who cannot stay away from the woman he loves, so he returns to her, only to be shot down by the relentless posse. The other day, I was playing a C&W Oldies station on Sirius-XM and I heard such a ballad. It was not by Marty Robbins but, rather, by a slightly lesser known name, Billy Walker. If you like western ballads about bandits, the Great State of Texas, beautiful women and love to die for, this one should be right up your alley. Some of you have heard it already, I am sure - it is hardly a new song. Probably, many of you have not. Regardless, I hope you enjoy: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO95mPRcfds]YouTube - ‪Cross The Brazos At Waco---Billy Walker‬‎[/ame] Got any favorites of your own? Let's hear 'em!
