It is actually rather sad when folks like this guy, hide their sexuality behind a wall of hypocrisy

Republican Ohio state legislator Wes Goodman describes himself on his Twitter bio as "Christian. American. Conservative. Republican." The self-described “family values” conservative with a history of anti-LGBTQ stances has resigned after admitting he engaged in sex with a man in his Ohio office.

From The Columbus Dispatch:

State Rep. Wes Goodman, who consistently touted his faith and conservative values, abruptly resigned late Tuesday after being confronted with evidence of inappropriate conduct with another man inside his Riffe Center office

Thanks JoeMoma
Notice that since he resigned quickly and courteously apologized and asked privacy for
himself and family, I don't see a lot of people making a bunch of hoopla about his case
as is happening with other officials.

I believe this takes on a tone more tragic than comic,
because he is serious about working things out with his family
and facing up to his constituents he also embarrassed and let down.

I still think he can be sincere about being anti-gay and pro marriage.
Just because you are caught drinking to excess or doing drugs, which you know are wrongful,
doesn't mean you can't be against addiction and abuse. It just makes it that much harder to face.

Just another typical 'Conservative' Republican. LOL

No, the only thing I find typical here
is his wise decision to resign as quickly and quietly as possible
to take responsibility for dealing with his family this is going to destroy and
shut down any media circus that may exploit this.

Democrats know they will be forgiven and covered for, and will take advantage most of the time.
Republicans know this will not work with their camp, and fewer try to play that card.
You can get away with some things, like Bush did with overstepping bounds in the name of
national defense and the GOP will hush up the opposition. But stuff like this, no.

Anti-Gay Ohio Republican Resigns After, Surprise, Having Sex with a Man in the State Capitol

After being caught having an affair and sex in his govt office,
Wes Goodman admitted the claims were true and resigned.

How you can tell he's Republican:
He resigned immediately instead of denying wrongdoing,
and the affair was with a married man not a woman!
You can tell he’s a Republican because he’s dishonest and a hypocrite.

"dishonest and hypocrite" does not distinguish one party from another!
In fact, you might as well blame the entire human race.
Everyone is going to commit hypocrisy one way or another
because we are not perfect, and we are going to point out faults in others
who are easier to see. that's human nature.

What makes people different: do they admit where they have
biases or hypocrisy? That doesn't mean we DON'T have these.
But it helps to recognize when we do the same things
that others do we criticize. At least it's equal.

Another godly man doing god's work huh?

HI frigidweirdo
I think his real work, his real soul-searching has just begun.
And yes it is a full time job, and he does need to focus on
himself and his family to heal and recover from whatever
mess he got himself into. I wish him the best, that he
emerges a better man from this, and believe that is more
important than worrying about serving in public office right now.
I hope he is able to work things out with his family friends and
constituents, have the right support to restore good faith relations,
and maybe later on help others in the Christian and Conservative
communities to understand and address issues he faces right now.

He could be a pervert and still be against perversion.

Yep Tipsycatlover
and that's better than being a pervert and promote being and staying in perversion.

But if you are going to be for healing and normalizing relations,
and if you are really against homosexuality and believe it is
unnatural and needs to be healed and changed,
well, this is the best way to show how that is to be done,
by going through that experience.

Let's see if he can practice what he preaches
or if he changes his message based on what he learns from this.

Some people can change, and can abstain from relations
that they decide are not right or natural for them.
Some find out those spiritual relations are valid
and learn to manage them one way or another.

He has to find out for himself, and whatever turns out to be true
I hope he is able to share what he learns with others
and we can stop judging and punishing people for this,
but learn to deal with relationships openly and spiritually.

He will need a lot of prayer and support, and
I do pray he succeeds in resolving everything this involves.

Isn't this exactly what Jim McGreevy did?

The problem here is that the politicians take on a persona and sell it to the public.

I did a sales job, for two weeks, I hated it. They were selling the job to me, and I had to sell to the customers, and all the time it was "sell your personality, not the product" and I was like "this is dishonest" so I quit.

The politicians play the system. The system is broken, a two party system that tries to fit 330 million people into two boxes, it doesn't work. So the rich basically tell people what to think so they can fit them inside the box they want them to fit inside.

It's all bullshit.

The US will die without proper democracy.

In Germany 8-10% of people change their vote from negative FPTP to positive PR, on the same say, at the same time. The US has a negative system that leads to negative politicians.

Time for a change.

nice little unnecessary dig emily.....

Yeah, sorry I like the joke Joe made better.
I was just throwing in a joke my bf makes about
politicians caught having affairs, and how to tell the difference.

In this case, I truly do sympathize with the man
and feel he is humbly sincere in taking responsibility
to focus his priority on his family. I do respect that.

The Christians do teach and support spiritual healing
to resolve relationship issues like this. So as long as
he keeps turning to and including his community of faith,
then there is a lot more growth in understanding and healing
that can come from this situation, more good than bad.

Until this happens to someone you respect and care about,
a lot of people don't understand these attractions.
I believe they are spiritual.
So I hope this leads to spiritual healing of him
and a lot more people around him who can no longer
be in denial thinking this only happens to other people.

Sorry, I made that joke mostly for the environment on this board.

I'm a Democrat, but a Constitutionalist first.
I support people of both pro and anti LGBT beliefs,
which I believe are both faith based and up to people to decide and resolve individually, and I believe in Christian spiritual healing that has enabled people to heal and change themselves and relationships through forgiveness that breaks the cycle of past abuses that otherwise repeat in future relations.

I'm probably one of the few Democrats who believes that some people have been healed of homosexual or other attractions they decided weren't natural or right for them. And I also know many people who do identify as homosexual or transgender, and where spiritual healing and acceptance allowed them to come out as well. Either way I believe this is spiritual, and people should have support to follow their own path and process in life without fear of harassment or judgment.
