Welfare Abusers in 12 States Just Got Some Brutal Bad News

Those drug tests make conservatives feel good but they yield painfully few violators

A waste of taxpayer dollars
It's all about smaller government....less intrusive government advocated by conservatives..

It comes down to the conservative mindset that those on welfare need to be punished

If you humiliate people getting welfare, they will not be so eager to take it

Drug testing is only a 48 hour snapshot of someone's life. It is very easy to fool a pee test. If it isn't random, only a few idiots will fail.

This is feel good legislation, all the client has to do is refrain from drugs for a few days prior and it will be clean. I would gather the client already knows when the test will occur, so it is a waste of taxpayer money. Until the cost of the real tests come down, this is a waste to test.

Drug addicts beat these tests all day long, they are experts.
It's all over the web and you can buy dehydrated pee to use, even comes with a fake penis...

No it doesn't.
Cons believe in a hand up not a hand out.

If you get drug tested to actually work for a living, what is wrong with getting drug tested to live off the former?

Liberals joyfully spend their own money on drugs for their personal amusement. Why is anyone surprised, then, that they'd really enjoy seeing YOUR money help their government-teat sucking friends buy a little smack too? Wouldn't that bolster "equality"?

I support this

Lets get it expanded to cover all 50 states

In most states, people collecting welfare can “earn” more money than if they worked full time at a minimum wage job, and these welfare payouts can take up roughly one-quarter to one-third of eachindividual state’s budget.

In order to cut down on these insanely high and growing costs, many states have moved to crack down on waste, fraud and abuse in their welfare programs.

One method many states have chosen to do this, and that 12 more states are now seriously looking at, is through drug testing for welfare recipients, the theory being that if someone has enough money to buy and use drugs, they don’t need or deserve welfare assistance from taxpayers.

Of course liberals will weep and wail and gnash their teeth, calling the drug testing of welfare recipients cruel, unfair and discriminatory, apparently oblivious to the fact that a majority of the workers who pay the taxes that fund welfare were required to pass a drug test in order to get their jobs

Florida Drops Appeals in Welfare Drug Testing Case

Yes, unfortunately, I agree with you.

Based on Yield Rates in jurisdictions where it's already been tried, the Cost of Operations has absolutely buried any Savings realized to date.

Rather like spending a Dollar, to make a Penny.

Didn't Rick Scott and his wife own quite a few of the drug testing clinics?

The left bitched because only a small percent of people tested positive. What they don't point out is that only a small percent of NEW APPLICANTS were even tested. All it means is that there are some really stupid people who knew they'd be subjected to a test and still did drugs.

If all recipients were subjected to random testing, the same way military and companies do with their people, we'd see higher numbers. Alcoholism should be watched for as well since I am sure all agree that abusers should not be responsible for children.

Companies and the military don't complain about costs. Liberals don't complain about workers having to face random testing. They only go to bat for the government dependents because they know those people are likely Dem voters.

How much money would be saved in welfare checks by doing the testing? Might actually come ahead. Why are Dems so afraid to try this? If they thought it was a waste of time, they'd laugh and say go ahead. It's only because their constituents are going to be upset at the thought of getting caught that causes them to loudly object.

It's not the cost of testing that liberals take issue with. It's only other peoples' money, after all, and they have no problem spending it like crazy.

So, you want to remove children from all alcoholic homes?
