Welfare 3500/Month ??? Is that even possible ?

The woman in the story collects disability. I know everyone likes to focus on the exception, rather than the norm, but most people who collect disability are just like his mother in law, actually disabled.

I can't say that's true, Amy. In this rural county in Red State Nebraska, there are a ton of overweight white hillbilly-types with a host of "knee problems," "back problems," type II diabetes (from being too fat), mental issues, etc., etc.

Believe me, the amount of entitlement collection in a white rural community is startling. I'm betting nearly 70% of the adult population here is on food stamps, farm subsidies, unemployment, income assistance, ADC, disability, social security, etc.

This is NOT a minority "problem." Rural whites in red states cost us a HELL of a lot of money, and I would be thrilled to kick every one of those racist SOB's off the dole.

They mostly are.

You get some that are middle aged drunks/loonies who work for years to get disability because they have bone spurs or a foot condition, or anxiety attacks...eventually they do get them and by then they're so warped by spending years of their life pursuing this flipping $674 or so a month to excuse the fact that they don't like to work, that we're all glad that they finally get it so they'll leave everyone the hell alone. That includes employers...you can't imagine what a drag it is to try to employ someone who is just looking for an excuse to get out of work/claim disability.

Those people are a pain in the ass but they almost deserve disability just based on their extremely unpleasant natures.

But for the most part, these people do function at a lower level than your average alcoholic. They are vulnerable to being exploited and often are, as are their children, which means they self-perpetuate the dysfunction that adds to their pathetic dependence upon the system.

If you are going to claim that most people who collect disability arent disabled, then you need to prove that.

I can't prove that, Amy. It's only what is apparent in this setting. I'm sure there are deserving people out there getting disability, but the ones I know are merely disfunctional, antisocial, lazy, or unstable.

"
In the Social Security program alone, the White House proposes to spend $4.3 billion over five years to fight fraud associated with disability claims — a problem, officials say, that stems from lack of oversight. Federal spending on disability insurance leaped 65 percent from 2001 to 2007, “yet the number of full medical reviews, one type of review for evaluating claims for eligibility for continuing disability payments, fell from 840,000 in 2001 to 190,000 in 2007, according to the Social Security Administration,” as The Wall Street Journal reported this week. "

It does not take the public long to figure out the situation:

"Between 1984 and 1990, Congress and the S.S.A. loosened the disability requirements, especially for children and people suffering from mental disorders. The agency also agreed that it would no longer cut off recipients it thought were “no longer disabled” unless it could show that their medical condition had improved, something that is exceedingly difficult to do. As part of welfare reform in 1996, Republicans in Congress did manage to tighten disability standards somewhat.

"However, none of those changes substantially rolled back the loosening of the disability criteria that had occurred. As a result, it should come as no surprise that, compared to two decades ago, it is much easier today for younger adults and children, particularly those with mental disorders, to receive disability benefits and to stay on the disability rolls longer once found eligible. "

"Layoffs of state examiners during this recession will make it hard to review disability cases. "

So what we have is a whole population of people who would not have been considered disabled 40 years ago, who can now meet the criteria of disability, particularly for "mental" issues, and for children.

Why work when you can vote Democrat?

This forum is FULL of those types of 'ups'.

interesting and, since reality isn't your thing... i'll just say again. blue states pay more into the system than they take out. red states take more than they pay.

so how about you stop mooching off of us more successful, better educated blue staters?

Tell it to the entitled takers..I bet they are not conservatives.

I can show you a dozen that ARE right now; they will certainly vote for Romney and against Obama. Mainly, because they are racists.

I also find it funny Republicans want to wipe out Social security and say that is an entitlement well dam straight it is my parents paid into it and now they are getting what they have soued. The right truly does need to get its priorities straight.

Are you really that stupid? No one wants to take away your parent's Social Security, or even change the program in any way for anyone over 55 years of age.
It is for those under 55 that face the real danger of having nothing if SS fails that Conservatives want to make changes that will ensure the solvency of the system.

They REALLY DON'T GET this part! No matter how many times we repeat it, they say it's a lie. They just don't get it that SS is NOT going to last, they're putting their money into it and it won't be there if something is done SOON. But all they can think is the conservatives are trying to screw them! Hell, it wouldn't be just the libs screwed, we would ALL be screwed.

I am going to ask the question again....

Does anyone know if this is even possible...that she could collect this kind of cabbage ?

Sure is. I had a lady working for me a few years ago. On top of her salary she got welfare of over a thousand a month. Food stamps. SS for her and her daughter because her first husband died. Then she divorced her second husband becuase they could get more money living together than married. Then at the end of the year she got all her taxes back plus more free money. All in all she pulled down about 50k a year.

And to think this person can't get a simple answer much less what they actually earned.

Help Me Understand Mr President

God bless the America you created folks.:clap2:

Yeah, I've seen households where people actually get divorced, then live together as "separate filing groups" to protect one or the others' welfare...

I know a lady who divorced her husband because his insurance ran out and they don't have the money to fight her cancer. The treatments are covered under medicare, however with his income they didn't qualify. So they bought a duplex and got a "divorce".

As I said earlier, let's just eliminate federal entitlement payments entirely. I'd love to see the effect on red states like Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, etc.

They would be fine.

Kansas does not federal entitlements.

I don't classify SS as an entitlement.....

Did you report them ?

Can you report them ?

True story yesterday at the dealership.....

"I'll try to make this as short and to the point as I can.

One of my salesmen here had a woman in his office yesterday wanting to lease a brand new Focus. As he was reviewing her credit app with her he noticed she was on social security disability. He said to her you don't look like your disabled and unable to work. She said well I'm really not, I could work if I wanted to but I make more now than I did when I was working and got hurt (non-disabling injury).

She said the gov't sends her $1500.00 a month in 1 check, she gets $700.00 a month on an EBT card (food stamps), and $800.00 a month for rent. Oh yeah and 250 minutes free on her phone. That is just south of $3500.00 a month.

When she was working she was taking home about $330.00 per week. Do the math and then ask yourself why the hell should she go back to work. If you multiply that by millions of people you start to realize the scope of the problem we face as a country. Once the socialist have 51% of the population in that same scenario we are finished.

The question is when do we cross that threshold if we haven't already, and there are not enough people working to pay enough taxes to support the non-working people? Riots?? Be prepared to protect your homes.

She didn't lease the Focus here because the dealer down the road beat our deal $by 10.00/month. Glad to know she is so frugal with her hard earned money."

*********************

Were they sour they lost the deal or is it possible someone could get this much money (say...if they were disabled) ?

$3500/month....untaxed (not sure if that is the case) equates to about $4500/$5000/mo.

Wow.....

BTW: This was on a local Ford dealers Facebook page (or so the e-mail I got states).

I still find it all a bit tough to believe.

So its socialism to help the poor out and help them out be able to feed themselves and have a roof over there head until they get back onto there feet? Tell me the right hasn't gotten this desperate.

While i understand the feet and that people do abuse it, its there to help folks get back onto there feet.

Uh...you missed the point.

She COULD work.

Why should she....it's a huge pay cut.

He didn't miss the point, he's just another in a long line of lying morans.

He's got nothing but make believe.

I am going to ask the question again....

Does anyone know if this is even possible...that she could collect this kind of cabbage ?

depends

you said she gets $800 for rent. Was that they amount she paid? or was it less or more?

I know people that get more from the government for rent than what their lease is.

The reason; They pony up what the place would cost at the nearest metropolis in the state.

Imagine living in Southern Ill, where rent for a 3 bedroom is about 1/2, but you also get a yard. You could pocket a few hundred every month.
