Welfare 3500/Month ??? Is that even possible ?

True story yesterday at the dealership.....

"I'll try to make this as short and to the point as I can.

One of my salesmen here had a woman in his office yesterday wanting to lease a brand new Focus. As he was reviewing her credit app with her he noticed she was on social security disability. He said to her you don't look like your disabled and unable to work. She said well I'm really not, I could work if I wanted to but I make more now than I did when I was working and got hurt (non-disabling injury).

She said the gov't sends her $1500.00 a month in 1 check, she gets $700.00 a month on an EBT card (food stamps), and $800.00 a month for rent. Oh yeah and 250 minutes free on her phone. That is just south of $3500.00 a month.

When she was working she was taking home about $330.00 per week. Do the math and then ask yourself why the hell should she go back to work. If you multiply that by millions of people you start to realize the scope of the problem we face as a country. Once the socialist have 51% of the population in that same scenario we are finished.

The question is when do we cross that threshold if we haven't already, and there are not enough people working to pay enough taxes to support the non-working people? Riots?? Be prepared to protect your homes.

She didn't lease the Focus here because the dealer down the road beat our deal $by 10.00/month. Glad to know she is so frugal with her hard earned money."

*********************

Were they sour they lost the deal or is it possible someone could get this much money (say...if they were disabled) ?

$3500/month....untaxed (not sure if that is the case) equates to about $4500/$5000/mo.

Wow.....

BTW: This was on a local Ford dealers Facebook page (or so the e-mail I got states).

I still find it all a bit tough to believe.
I smell a big steaming pile of bullshit here, but of course the nutters will run with it.

And obama wants more of this , wonder why we are on borrowed time...womb to the tomb entitlements, gee I see now we borrow 30 cents of every dollar we spend, wonder why ?

I also find it funny Republicans want to wipe out Social security and say that is an entitlement well dam straight it is my parents paid into it and now they are getting what they have soued. The right truly does need to get its priorities straight.

Why should I be forced into this scam when I can manage my money exponentially better than a bunch of bureaucrats?

I am going to ask the question again....

Does anyone know if this is even possible...that she could collect this kind of cabbage ?

Honestly? I didn't think you could i didn't think you could take advantage of the system that badly.

Well, that's the question, isn't it.

You just said it was being taken advantage of....and I agree.

If this is possible....then WTF ?????

Perhaps there needs to be some kind of deeper look into those that apply for anything and then a re-check because that is ridiculous.

One of my salesmen…

Car dealer and disability specialist, impressive.

He said to her you don't look like your disabled and unable to work.

What exactly does disabled ‘look like’?

Otherwise…

SSDI isn’t ‘welfare,’ it’s earned after working on a payroll for 40 qualifying quarters, 10 years. Neither are food stamps ‘welfare.’ And the housing assistance is not ‘welfare’ as well if an agreement to reimburse was signed by the applicant.

This country would be a lot better off if you and other conservatives quit obsessing over other people, their private lives, income, and whether they’re ‘disabled’ or not and focus instead on your own affairs.

Why work when you can vote Democrat?

This forum is FULL of those types of 'ups'.

interesting and, since reality isn't your thing... i'll just say again. blue states pay more into the system than they take out. red states take more than they pay.

so how about you stop mooching off of us more successful, better educated blue staters?

There are freeloaders such as you and your extended family in all states.

Stop trying to pretend you are some sort of maker, taker.

LOL

Now. There is some funny shit right there.

Are you really that stupid? No one wants to take away your parent's Social Security, or even change the program in any way for anyone over 55 years of age.
It is for those under 55 that face the real danger of having nothing if SS fails that Conservatives want to make changes that will ensure the solvency of the system.

I'm disabled. I do not collect any kind of government (or privately donated) money.

For SS Disability, one has to work ten years, then fill out tons of forms and jump through hoops, after which they will almost certainly be denied benefits. They can appeal, and they'll probably be denied again. Then they can hire an attorney, who will likely win the case if they have proof (including ongoing medical records and a physician testifying on their behalf.)

Every so many years, the patient has to go back and prove they're disabled. There are programs designed to get the SS disabled back to work.

Payments vary, but they're based on a percentage of earned income. Payments are increased if there are dependents or a caregiver. Food stamps are not part of Social Security, they're welfare, and are based on income relative to poverty levels.

She could be making $3500/month if she had a high-paying job originally, somewhere in the area of $100,000.

For Schillian....it's normal.

So its socialism to help the poor out and help them out be able to feed themselves and have a roof over there head until they get back onto there feet? Tell me the right hasn't gotten this desperate.

While i understand the feet and that people do abuse it, its there to help folks get back onto there feet.

Uh...you missed the point.

She COULD work.

Why should she....it's a huge pay cut.

IF this is true. This person went through several doctors needed to convince the SSDI board that they really are disabled. And this person didn't do it on their own. They hired an attorney. Who made good money for the work.

Why don't you Rethugs make the doctors quit saying that a person is disabled? Why don't you rethugs make the attorneys quit working the SSDI system?

Get rid of the doctors saying they are disabled and the attorneys representing the case and viola, you don't have these people on SSDI. Both the doctors and the attorneys are making real good money off this.

See how easy that was.

OF course, doctors have money, power and lobbyists, and attorneys have money, power and lobbyists. Poor people have sucky lobbyists.

Poor people are not interested in living someones version of the "Ameican Dream". They are much interested in surviving.

Stop the doctors, stop the attorneys, fix the problem.

And the beautiful part of this is once on disability you
are there pretty much for the duration....nice huh.

The message here from this administration is that government
is there and they have deep pockets.

Why is it, in all these "Welfare Queen" stories, that nobody ever turns the fuckers in? So much better to just bitch about it on a message board and then call for abolishing safety nets.

There are doctors and attorneys who purposefully work the SSDI system. Advertise for clients and everything.

Why are the rethugs not going after them? A semi literate uneducated poor person can not successfully work the disability claim process without professional help.

Why don't they stop the doctors and lawyers.?

As it is just talking about it brands you a racist.
How can you turn someone in who is not braking any law it seems.
The Democrat machine encourages this sort of behavior.
The only people against it are the ones who struggle everyday
to keep a few bucks in their pocket.

Obviously, you've never had a family member try to negotiate the disability maze... or you wouldn't say such silly things.

My sister recently lost sight in her left eye because her retina detached. This means she is no longer able to work as a registered nurse. Her husband passed away five years ago.

She can still teach in community colleges, but that doesn't pay anywhere near what she used to make as a nurse. But SSDI won't pay her because she's bringing in some income.
