They don't feel threatened. They just ignore the rules and carry on as usual.
So this is debating?
No, this is a welcome thread.
It should be the general rule for every topic, not just confined to one zone where people are expected to behave themselves.
Then welcome everyone, no debating on this thread just welcoming.
Threatened? I think not. Personally, I'm still snickering about what passes for 'debate' in that forum. Not off to a great start. On the bright side... it can't get much worse.
I could sure draw that conclusion though from some of the whining, dire predictions, complaints, and projections some folks are attaching to it not only here but comments I've read all over the board. Everything from 'kindergarten time' to 'segregation' to 'the USMB underground' to 'objection to a rep fest zone' to 'restriction on free speech' to 'boring', etc. etc. etc.
Just like any other new thing though, there will probably be some wrinkles to shake out as they come up--Save and I were just discussing one of them. And some folks are going to find a civil discussion almost alien and foreign to them, but might discover they have better skills at articulating a point of view than they thought they did. It will take awhile for an interested group to become comfortable with a more civil style.
But I for one hope it catches on. If it doesn't, oh well. . . .
I agree with Foxfyre on this one. I think it's amazing that people are so upset by having one forum where negativity isn't celebrated.
The idea of having a conversation with people about issues that matter where courtesy and respect are encouraged is really cool. I'd love to learn how to do that. Most of my bad posting behavior is learned right here on this forum.
