If you're like me you were subject to the disinformation campaign known as public school. We learned that: the New Deal saved the economy, Joe McCarthy's House unamerican activities committee blacklisted Hollywood actors and Hitler was a right winger

Well the New Deal terrified businessman and was totally responsible for an economy worse that the 7 Biblical lean years, McCarthy was right that Communist spies were subverting US policy and finally the Left has warmly welcome back socialist and gun control advocate Adolf Hitler as their long lost elder brother

a new crusader frank new deal thread pops up every so often. so often enough that it reaffirms the deluded mind of the cynical and obsessed partisan hack.

I'm a victim of Public Schooling as well Frank so I can sympathize with you.

I grew up building and flying Model Airplanes, and because WWII planes are so popular to build, it's only natural that most modelers learn about the Politics surrounding the War as well. There was no Internet so we read all the books associated with WWII.

So the guys I built models with, we all knew that WWII brought the US out of the Depression. We didn't learn about Gov't Works programs till later, but that didn't matter anyway because in our minds, Roosevelt was just the Iconic US President in WWII.

Then after the war we all knew that while the US Gov't was having a show trial of Nazi Leaders in Nuremberg, at the same time they were bringing German Scientists over to the US to work with NASA and other Military Projects. But you tell that to the average American and he'll accuse you of lying or outright treason. Even though it's documented in the book "The Right Stuff". Even in the movie version some of the Scientists who worked with NASA for the Moonshots HAD GERMAN ACCENTS!

I didn't find out until recently that bringing the Scientists over here was called "Operation Paper Clip". Thanks for nothing, Gov't Public Schooling!

I was lucky. I went to a private school and learned history from a non partisan historian and what I learned, in general is that too much government control is a very bad thing, the worst thing.

Example; Adolf Hitler had too much government control.

No one can disagree with that.

It is noteworthy that that OP's detractors fail to cite a single fact in contradiction of his assertions. It is also noteworthy that, like Obama, Hilter went to great lengths to conceal his background from the public.

Thanks for underscoring my point. :eusa_angel:

When the Obamanistas have no ammunition in their propaganda arsenal, or a topic is simply beyond their narrow scope of knowledge, they resort to personal attacks and namecalling and cursing like dock workers.

It's ALWAYS the same simple-minded game.

Awwwwww, Frankie has an uncle Adolf........

While the New Deal didn't save the economy like the war did, it certainly eased the suffering throughout the country. Remember the crash started in Oct 1929. FDR didn't take office till 1933.

The trials, which were well publicized, could often destroy a career with a single unsubstantiated accusation. Among those well-known artists accused of communist sympathies or called before the committee were Dashiell Hammett, Waldo Salt, Lillian Hellman, Lena Horne, Paul Robeson, Elia Kazan, Arthur Miller, Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Charlie Chaplin and Group Theatre members Clifford Odets, Elia Kazan, and Stella Adler. In all, three hundred and twenty artists were blacklisted, and for many of them this meant the end of exceptional and promising careers.

During this time there were few in the press willing to stand up against McCarthy and the anti-Communist machine. Among those few were comedian Mort Sahl, and journalist Edward R. Murrow, whose strong criticisms of McCarthy are often cited as playing an important role in his eventual removal from power.

Comparing either party to the fascist nazi is just lazy, might as well call Watergate a simple botched burglary.

Well, thanks for citing PBS as an unbiased historical reference. Most of the people you mentioned were communist sympathizers at a time when the Soviet Union was bent on world domination through military (nuclear) intimidation. Why didn't you mention the persecution of the poor Rosenbergs by Tricky Dick? Oh, I forgot: They were later confirmed by KGB files to be Soviet spies.

Right, it was Wilson who signed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 that put our money supply into the hands of Private Bankers. Wilson later said he regretted doing it, but he still did it.

From then on Congress had to BORROW money from the Federal Reserve every year. That's why Income Taxes were instituted to pay the INTEREST on the money that Congress Borrows.

That's why raising taxes will never pay off the debt.

See how completely brainwashed they become?

FDR meant well while crushing the life out of US industry, so yeah he's OK

McCarthy had NOTHING to do with the HUAC.

NOTHING!!

He was a Senator. He had NOTHING to do with the Committee that started years before he even made his first speech

And moreover, he was totally correct that genuine Communist spies were active in the White House and State Department

320 artist were blacklisted and many were not sympathizers as has been proven. Why were the hearings shut down again?
