The terrible massacre at the high school in Parkland, FL should teach us a lesson. At the end of the day, after all is said and done, there is one inescapabale conclusion. That is that the only thing that is going to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. In the case of large institutions (numerous large buildings) that means MANY good guys with guns.

Wanna make a comparion between a school in the US and a school in Israel ? That's an easy one. The American school is relatively unprotected/unarmed compared to the Israeli one which is heavily protected with armed guards.

Why woud this be ? Even after a number of horrific shootings in schools. I'll venture a wild guess. It's because the educational sysem in America is run by liberals, who are not very astute when it comes to guns, security, law enforcement, crime. They also seem to have a built-in animosity toward guns. That isn't the case in Isarael, because every teacher there has served in the military, as is required of all kids when they turn 18 years of age. Watching the responses to the Parkland massacre have got me stunned. I'm seeing so-called security experts giving classes to kids and teachers about how to run, hide, and fight, they call it.

While this may be also good, what I'm not seeing much of is anybody calling for a huge step up in ARMED SECURITY. This should be at least a dozen armed guards in each school (possibly many more than that, as well as security technology (cameras, monitors, alarms). This should include teachers themselves, and in colleges, could include students too. When I attended college, I was already a US Army veteran + an Army National Guard veteran both. There probably are vets in many colleges around the country.

If things had been set up properly in Parkland, Nikolas Cruz would never have made it past the parking lot. Instead, he just pranced right into the school with a rifle, pulled an alarm, walked down a hallway, and started shooting people. This is negligence, pure and simple. whatever security MSD High School had, it wasn't anywhere near enough.

President Trump, who is getting ready to preside over an overhaul of US infrastructure ought to include school security in that scenario. And it wouldn't be a bad idea to expand that to major increases of security in shopping malls, water treatment plants, office parks, recreational facilities, etc.

This is not a new subject for me. Right after 9-11 happened, I went to my County Commission's town hall meeting and suggested increases in armed security. PETS was the key acronym. Pay, Equipment, Training, Staffing.

More of all those things. It would be expensive, but look at how expensive it is to not do it. Mass shooting have become too common in our society. It's time to take REAL action, and not let it all be controlled by liberal, school administrators.

many, not much

for a guy who wants english to be the official language, you sure do butcher it

I was gonna say, how fitting that a clown who wants to dictate how people talk also wants gunplay.

Great logic there. I know every time my house catches fire I go get some gasoline to pour on it.
What a great plan.

Ironic too that a clown who wants to force everybody into English, can't write in it.

But let's hear from the guy in the OP's own avatar:

Socialism is a cancer, it destroyed the traditional American family in urban areas. Urban areas are controlled by Progressives that is where all of the violent crime is at.

Protection of American citizens is not gunPLAY. It is fundamental security. And my writing is perfectly fine.

So you're saying we don't need more good guys with guns to protect schools ? Ar eyou really THAT detached ?

Around 8000 to 10000 people are murdered with firearms each year.

80% of those are black and hispanic gang bangers killing each other for sport in gun free zone ghettos run by Democrats.

Gun violence is pretty much non-issue for average American and no one sane in Congress is going to support additional gun control.

Gun grabber tears are sweet though ::04:

I considered using the word many. I CHOSE "much".

For your edification, that's called ARTISTS' LICENSE.
No charge for the tutoring.

PS - the first word of your sentences, should be capitalized. So should the word English.

I think welfare should be given in the form of a gun....

Is certainly IS a sad day. Very sad day. But that's the way it is - something liberals are unable to deal with >> REALITY.

And this is a disingenuous post. Ike was talking about an entirely different subject matter. Blacks integrating into a school for the first time. Try being honest, rather than twisting the words of a great ex-president and general.

Minnesota’s violent crime rate hit a 50-year low in 2016, according to the FBI.

And in 2017, the state set a new record for firearms background checks.
Reality Check: More Minnesotans Own Guns, Violent Crime Remains Low

Teachers with guns – a truly moronic notion.

There is no amount of ‘training’ that can prepare a teacher to respond appropriately to an active shooter; indeed, armed teachers become as much of a threat to students as the shooter himself, if not more so.

Yes. It teaches us a lesson that both the extreme leftists and extreme righties will seize upon the opportunity to hammer home their respective dogma.
This thread isn't to hammer dogma. It is to counter the silence of the left controlled media, and left controlled education system. and provide the real and only solution to gun crime. Yes.
