We could all use some common sense...

Socialist whackjobs like you are perfectly comfortable with using the guns of gubmint to rob me and take away my freedom, in order to feather the nests of the moocher class and their bureaucratic enablers, you sanctimonious looter.

...wat?

Quit being paranoid.

Fine... I don't want to pay for you to murder unborn children. Can I opt out of that with ObamaCare? No.

I don't want to pay for your birth control. Can I opt out of that with ObamaCare? No.

I define marriage as 'one man and one woman' - that is the Catholic view - for the procreation of children - can gays produce a child without a third party? No. I'm totally up for gays having the same rights and responsibilities of 'marriage' but it ain't marriage. Not according to my definition of the word.

I am comfortable with creationism not being taught in schools.

And.... we have Freedom OF religion, not Freedom FROM religion in this country. If the symbols of my faith offend you, tough.

So the determining factor in a legitimate marriage is procreation......

Then you must oppose marriage of infertile couples. You must oppose marriage of anyone over 50. You must really oppose marriages of people who openly say they do not want children

Those so called marriages do not bear fruit and should not be endorsed by our society

Actually, no, that's not the only reason... but is the first.

I define marriage according to my beliefs. You are welcome to define it differently. But what you define as 'marriage' is not 'marriage'... find another term.

You are free to accept or reject any marriage you don't believe in

You are not free to force the government to accept your personal religious beliefs in defining what a marriage is

Don't agree with murder? Don't do it. But dont stop those that do from committing murder.

Don't agree with stealing? Don't do it. But don't stop those that do believe in it

Don't agree with rape? Don't commit it. But don't stop those that do believe in it.

You wouldn't want to force your beliefs on people, would you?

All of these involve unwilling victims. Preventing these kinds of abuses is the purpose of government.

The liberal way:

Citizen: I don't believe in...

Government: You're still going to pay for it and we're going to teach your children it...

Do you believe the government has to support everything you believe in?

One can have the freedom from religion is he/she wishes.

I want to be an Athiest? Fine.
Don't impose your religious laws on me.

The reason why this country was founded was for freedom. Including self expression, which means they would need the freedom from religion to do so.

Freedom from religion was necessary if you wanted to become a follower of another religion because back then, you would have been put to death or harmed if you werent a certain religion. (They have that in Middle Eastern and African countries. If you aren't muslim, you get death.)

Of course not. But we should recognize that the nature of democratic, government-based solutions to problems is that they invariably involve forcing people to do things against their will. Because of that, we should resort to those kinds of solutions only when it's necessary - when letting people decide for themselves is intolerable.

I think they were also trying to avoid the "unholy alliance" of church and state so dominant in the monarchies they were rejecting. They recognized it as a dangerous consolidation of power and wanted to make sure it didn't happen here.

Indeed they were.

If the church and state were together, it would defeat the reason why this nation exists.

While common sense would be nice, I'd settle for a little common decency.

Stuffing religion down our throats, causing a scene, blowing up abortion clinics, etc is not decent. Act civilized for once.

de·cen·cy/ˈdēsənsē/
Noun:

Behavior that conforms to accepted standards of morality or respectability: "she had the decency to come and confess".
Modesty and propriety: "too low-cut for decency".

^
Most Christians refuse to show "decency".

UPDATE: i got kicked out of my house for being gay. im not gay. What should I do? : AskReddit

"I dont know if anyone wants an update, but a couple people asked yesterday and I dont know if everyone saw my edits. I called the police, they came and interviewed me. Then they left to go talk to my mom. Someone drove me to the station, which was the first time I saw my mom. They had told her the legal consequences/obligations, and she agreed to take me back in, saying she "overreacted" (thank you Captain Obvious!). I didnt see any actual CPS yesterday, being Easter Sunday, but they came to my house today to talk to my mom. I didnt see them, i was in school. They will be coming to talk to me tomorrow, and then continuing for several months as i said yesterday. I think this is probably one of the best ways this could have turned out. From what I've heard about CPS and foster care, its not a good way to grow up. So, yeah thats it I think. Thanks so much to everyone who helped. i've recorded all the numbers you gave me in an online journal(which i will remember to log off). I got so many offers of help, and just knowing theres people out there made me feel secure. You guys are awesome :)"

The real monster here is Bad Parenting. ಠ_ಠ
It's kinda bad when the police have to tell your parents to calm down and take that dick out of their ass AND then bring in Child Protective Services into the picture. (May I point out this was religiously motivated?)
