You don't let your guard down when approaching a vehicle. If you're lucky enough to be with a partner, we like to approach from opposite sides, check the back seats first and stand directly behind the driver, forcing him to turn around in a awkward position. Making it harder to pull a firearm or fire accurately. We typically dial it down after we are convinced the occupants of the vehicle aren't an immediate threat.

For me, entering people's homes is worse. So may doors and hallways. Hard to watch them all and listen to the person.
