Washington state here!

Welcome. :clap2:

Just happen to be a Washingtonian, libertarian-ish, objectivist minded (Seahawk fan) myself.

See ya around the threads...

Right on. Seahawk fan here as well. what do you think about senate candidate James "Skip" mercer? He's most likely to get my vote.

Well I wish him luck and hope that should he win he treads very lightly on the social conservative stuff. I should say... I was a military brat and (skipping all the details) ended up in Ohio for the last 20 years and currently live in Cincinnati. But Washington is my "home State".

Dunno enough about Mercer to say. My own politics (per "political compass" put me likely farther right on economics than Bastiat and more anti-authoritarian than Ghandi. Bad part is a small number of peers but the good part is I can find something in pretty much everyone's opinion to argue politics about.

Where at in Washington are you? Im in the Wenatchee area

Well I was (see above post) in Tacoma for about 8 years (including the "birth" of the Seahawks) but shuttled about the USofA till finally landing in Ohio.

Been back to the Great Northwest to visit and would not mind heading back one day to live there or (worst case) retire in or around Seattle.

He is a Reagan Conservative, that right there means I am not voting for him. Plus I am sick of these west side cons ignoring Eastern Washington.

I hear you on that. I'm guessing you're going for clint Didier?

Ah wenatchee... the good ol' days. I lived there from 93-95, well not wwenatchee, but rock island on the other side of the river. Originally from Seattle, those were the only years growing up I lived anywhere but seattle. I still go out there and visit. Is it hot out there today?

supposed to get about 85 today pretty nice weather..and then creep back up in the 90s later this week..and the wildfires look like they're contained..but Wildfire season has just begun though. More thunderstorms they said this week again..those are usually what cause them..because it gets so dry out here. Wenatchee's climate is very similar compared to some parts of Shizuoka in Japan. (Which is where i'm from) Shizuoka can get humid sometimes though...thats why I love living here..there's no humidity almost never

I've been to Shizuoka. I have friends there. They took us to a Japanese Onsen <sp?>

It was wonderful. Shizuoka is a beautiful place. I was real impressed with the way they plant the green tea going sideways up the mountains, using every space they can. Wouldn't mind getting some of that green tea today. Best green tea in the world comes from there, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Ah so you enjoyed there? Yeah I worked as a bookkeeper for my grandparents green tea farm before I moved here. I have lots of tea from there too ^^ they ship it to me every month so I never have to buy it. They have a warehouse in Walnut Creek, California they ship to so they can sell it to asian specialty stores in the US

so you're in federal way? ah you are on the ''other side of the mountain'' as they say. I work for the Wenatchee National Forest at a local office as a bookkeeper and do budgeting and other financial duties. I am told I am the first foreign woman to work for them.

Yes, and please, if you come to this side of the mountains let me know and come visit me. I've hosted many Japanese students over the years. I've also taught them ESL on short term English Immersion programs. I love the Japanese, always have. My parents were married in Japan. And when you come to visit, bring some tea...

My friends, Rumiko and her husband have friends that grow green tea in Shizuoka, but we didn't get a chance to meet them. We were only in Japan for 10 days. If I'd known my job was going to go to India when I got back, I would have stayed longer.

20 minutes to 2 hours south, depending on traffic. I'd advise coming down 18 and avoiding Seattle all together.

The reason why I ask, is because i'll be over there later this month for a Mariners game as horribly as they've been playing. I got free season tickets I borrow.

If you're going to the Mariner's game, you're looking closer to the 2 hour mark, especially coming out of the game. Not quite as bad if you stop by before the game.

Yes I heard that too, and also Moses Lake . Since Japan Airlines used to be there..There are some Japanese who live here now. Many of us like the open country land in Central Washington and Wenatchee is a beautiful little town. Big cities are okay to visit but I could never live in one.
