BUT,

check out this "disclaimer"...

Because of the nature of this project, we allowed government officials to see the Web site several months ago and asked them to tell us of any specific concerns. They offered none at that time. As the project evolved, we shared the Web site's revised capabilities. Again, we asked for specific concerns. One government body objected to certain data points on the site and explained why; we removed those items. Another agency objected that the entire Web site could pose a national security risk but declined to offer specific comments.

We made other public safety judgments about how much information to show on the Web site. For instance, we used the addresses of company headquarters buildings, information which, in most cases, is available on companies' own Web sites, but we limited the degree to which readers can use the zoom function on maps to pinpoint those or other locations.

It's mostly about the runaway spending that has been, and IS, going on since 9-11, and is quite an eyeopener.

This is beyond any scope of even laughable control but what is really sad is the small percentage of Americans who are politically active or discuss politics are so deeply blind by partisanship that this will not even scratch the surface. While American Sheep scream about Reps and Dems this network will grow exponentially taking our tax dollars and lives with it. The worst part is actual US enemies can exploit this system by infiltrating certain areas while the rest are completely ignorant.

Post 9E Intelligence reconstruction was nothing but the construction of our own destruction.

And how can we STOP it?!?

So many of these programs aren't Out There, for us to even KNOW about, much less decide if WE, The People, even WANT them.

You are SO correct about it being BOTH sides fault and only with a COMPLETE ...

DO OVER (! ;) )

are we EVER going to be able to get our gov back on track...

That's so disheartening to me, 'cuz NO ONE actually wants to put in the time, nor effort, that an absolute revamp would take,

especially considering that it would require starting all over with a new gov and/or sending in boatloads of accountants/efficiency experts to straighten it all out.

The NRO built a $500 million dollar building without Congress even knowing about it till it was almost finished.

A Washington Post Investigation

The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work.

These are some of the findings of a two-year investigation by The Washington Post that discovered what amounts to an alternative geography of the United States, a Top Secret America hidden from public view and lacking in thorough oversight. After nine years of unprecedented spending and growth, the result is that the system put in place to keep the United States safe is so massive that its effectiveness is impossible to determine.

The investigation's other findings include:

* Some 1,271 government organizations and 1,931 private companies work on programs related to counterterrorism, homeland security and intelligence in about 10,000 locations across the United States.

* An estimated 854,000 people, nearly 1.5 times as many people as live in Washington, D.C., hold top-secret security clearances.

* In Washington and the surrounding area, 33 building complexes for top-secret intelligence work are under construction or have been built since September 2001. Together they occupy the equivalent of almost three Pentagons or 22 U.S. Capitol buildings - about 17 million square feet of space.

Cut the defense budget.

It's bloated beyond belief.

And for what? To protect us against a couple of hundred guys in a cave in Pakistan with no army, no navy, and no air force?

My guess is that infrastructure is being built for the pseudo-collapse of the American Empire. It will provide great advantages in the transition to global governance by an alliance between the West and East.

Count on it.

It only took 12 to take out 3000 Americans but go on and keep your head buried in the sand.
