It is about the lie..not what he lied about.

I don't know how old you are, what sex you are or if you have kids but if your spouse or child lied to you about where they were or what they bought at the store, you would be for more upset about the fact that they lied, and not what they lied about.

Perhaps you need to start your own poll asking how many people on USMB have lied before.

The poll asked a simple question with two simple choices. The following discussion is an entirely different thing and consists mostly of individual opinion (though some did quote and provide links for legal documentation).

Goatboy on the other hand continued to defy the law and dragged the Country through the whole impeachment process. He lost.

Here in America it's not a crime to lie. Clinton can lie all he wants about not having sex with that girl and still be blemish free of any criminal wrong doing. But if one is dragged into a Grand Jury, then the picture changes.

Being in a Grand Jury is weird because even if you lied about a non crime you can get in trouble and this is what they wanted to entrap Clinton with.

It gets even more bizzarre when you think of those that go into a rampage over a lie about a non crime and say nothing of being lied into a war which so far has killed our soldiers.

And freed a country from a tyranical leader, actually two countries, although still a work in progress which will give people hope and a stake in their countries.. Why is the suffering, and torture of Iraqi and Afghanistani people not considered deplorable by you, but free elections, and freedom from persecution are just not acceptable to you??? It's as simple as this: The President is the chief law enforcement officer in the nation. It is unacceptable (and I believe illegal) to have a felon, convicted or not, in that position. When Clinton committed perjury, he became a felon. It doesn't matter what the perjury was about, he's just as much a felon for lies about sex with an intern as he would be for lies about a murder.

Actually, it was Jesus that said let he who is without sin cast the first stone. God turned a woman into a pillar of salt for turning around. Bit of difference in styles, I'd say.

Fair enough. I don't disagree with that, but at the same time I think Nixon was demonized to a very harsh degree. If anything, Clinton was turned into a hero by some, not only for lying but being adament about it.

Feeling a might puny today, so it takes ahwile for the radar to pick up on some things.

It was nice to see Nixon get some respect for what he excelled at in those later years. Carter would have done himself a world of good if he just kept his mouth shut. He was a horrible president, but I had respect for him for the things he did after his presidency was over. Not anymore.

Ten years ago, I remember coming home. It was late at night. There were friends and family sitting around in the living room. Someone told me they were going to impeach the president. I asked why, someone replied it was because Monica gave Bill a blow job. When I heard that I thought everyone was playing a joke on me.

To prove to me that it was not a joke, they turned on the television. That's when I saw some old fart screaming, "it's not about the sex it's about the lie." I think the old fart's head exploded.

When you lie, you have to have something to lie about, but nobody wanted to talk about what the lie was about, only that he lied period. There are posters here whom don't even care if Clinton lied about what he had for breakfast, all that mattered is he lied.

This poll didn't convince me that any of you gave a dead rat's ass about the lie, it was more that you hated Clinton. That's all it was and you flushed 70 million dollars down the drain for nothing.

Clinton went on to finish his term in office, but 6 Republicans resigned from office, because a pornographer paid money to expose the hypocrites. If that pornographer didn't stick his neck out, those six Republican hypocrites would have stayed and voted against Clinton.

The reason I brought up religion in one of my posts was because there were 15 votes saying impeachment was justified and just 1 vote that said it wasn't. The religion post I made was an attempt to shake the bush and see if any religious fanatic comes out. I can understand a religious fanatic okaying 70 million dollars going down the drain for no other reason than to get at someone they hate, but I can't understand a secular person, whom admits to their own imperfection wanting to drop 70 million dollars over a blow job.

I don't believe for one second that those whom voted for impeachment, holds the same strict standard to themselves, a standard so strict that lying about what one had for breakfast calls for the worst punishment that one can dish out.
