Ever wonder what it was he either in fact or allegedly saved the Jews and world from? What's annoying is when men such as Christopher Hitchens and this poster (who couldn't carry Christopher Hitchens' pipe cleaner) act as if they are neo opponents of circumcision or the entire Old Law, when 2,000 years go, in clear unequivocal terms, Jesus and Paul denounced the Old Covenant as the stop gap shadow it was.
In the first place, The Old Law was not for the righteous, but the savage thugs of those times:
1 Timothy 1:9-11 We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers-- and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the glorious gospel of Christ.
Men before Christ WERE BRUTAL. So the:
"Old Law was added so that the trespass might increase." Romans 5:20
"Jesus Canceled the written code, nailed it to the cross and made a public spectacle of the Old Law...which was miserable and useless, perfecting nothing." (Col 2.14; Heb 7.17)
Jesus freed us from all that anachronistic obsolescence saying:
Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
And again:
Hebrews 10:1-6 The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming-- not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. 2 If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3 But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, 4 because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; 6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.
And regarding circumcision STERN WORDS:
Galatians 4:31 Therefore, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.
5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. 2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
So when internet monkeys think they've played a masterful hand by mentioning some bit of Old Testament misery, that hand became cliche 2,000 years ago, at least to the Christians.
Now, you can take your dog and pony show to the Jews, but most of them don't follow the Old Testament either, especially since the MUSLIM DOME OF THE ROCK is sitting on the Temple Mount so that no sacrifices or Temple worship can ensue. Try to find a prevalent stint of stoning women, even among the Jews - YOU WON'T FIND IT. Because the law wasn't meant to be laid down like an anvil at every infraction. Now, looking at Muslims might confuse you, because they are not following YHVH but Satan, and they are very happy to kill their wives and daughters at the drop of a hat. But it was not this way among the Jews and especially past the first millennium.

Each of us owes Jesus for bringing the Enlightenment, for bringing us out of the human sacrifice all over the world and the utter barbarism of the Romans and Greeks.
God still allows non-Christians to rule their countries: Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin, Lenin, Trotsky, Robert Mugabe, Kim Jong-il, Kim Il-Sung and all the barbaric Muslim leaders, just to show how brutish and oppressed life is outside of Jesus Christ - the Light and Life of the world.
