That, in itself, is insisting on controilling one of the major factors of our economy.

He has pushed through legislation that makes demands to business owners and insurance companies to do things they may not want to do...and that is controlling another MAJOR part of our economy.

He has invested our money in a failing company and has partial controlling power of an industry that he, himself, has called "the backbone" of our economy.

What is it that you are missing?

what is missing, of course, is the accuracy of your rant, but more importantly, even if if were true, it does not meet the definition of socialism. THe government does not own the health business. It does not employ doctors or own hospitals or insurance companies. It does not own any industry. It does not own the means of production or control. Farmers own their farms. They sell their product in the marketplace. Trucking firms - all privately owned - move the product that privately owned companies produce to all the markets in our country and around the world. Nothing socialist about that in the least. Socialism is, in reality, an all or nothing sort of proposition. You can't really be a "little bit" socialist, anymore than a woman can be a "little bit pregnant". Wall Street - as agents for the people - buys and sells ownership in every aspect of the american economy every day, and the people benefit from that market. Our economy is clearly capitalist, and that system is willingly perpetuated by both political parties... neither of which is socialist.

I never said the government controlled the health industry. I said it has placed mandates on the insurance industry..... Think about it...the government passed a law telling a service industry what they MUST sell/offer...even if they dont want to.

SO what do we have? Government telling citizens FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER that they must purchase something....from the day they are born to the day they die, they MUST purchase an item....and at the same time, for the first time they are telling companies what they MUST sell....

It is scary shit...and I fear the beginning of something bad.

I said that they own stock in GM and that is partial ownership and that is socialism.
I said that 100% of owning stock by any government is Communism.
