Was Jesus Christ a socialist?

everything jesus advocated was through free will, not government control over the people...

its not rocket science...

charity is not the same as forced taxes into a nanny state so bureaucrats can then redistribute it to the "poor". (i put 'poor' in quotes because i believe one chooses to be poor in the united states with VERY FEW exceptions)

Honest question...do you think he was for social justice?

he was for love. hes not a political figure. everything he advocated is free will and through choice, not government control. i am not exactly answering your question because i believe the term 'social justice' is code talk for laws based on race and not on the content of character of individuals. I am for equality of opportunity for all, not for government control of race and wealth redistribution...which is what the ultimate goal of social justice is. 'social justice' is actually kind of an oxymoron because there is no justice involved with that term whatsoever.

Did Jesus advocate government owning the means of production?

I dont thnk so...but:

1. Jesus owned nothing. 2. Jesus argued for the dissolution of the family and the establishment of communes. 3. Jesus loved all people regardless of ethnicity or class. 4. Jesus revolted against the imperial government, established religion and finance capitalism (usury). 5. Jesus taught that we should act as one body, one blood. 6. Jesus taught that his kingdom (ie nation state) is in the heart and not below the feet. 7. Jesus taught that we should fight for Justice and 'turn the other cheek' to petty morality. 8. Jesus was a laborer and a teacher. 9. Jesus practiced healing and forgiveness. 10. Jesus taught that you can't be an imperialist and a disciple at the same time.

The problem, Zona, is that numbers 2, 4, 5, 6, and 10 are all wrong. You may believe these things to be facts but they are not. And the rest of them are more than a tad misinterpreted.

It is really, really, easy.... Jesus taught personal salvation. He taught us to love our fellow man, and to care for one another. Now, socialism is based on collective salvation - that is the opposite of what Christ taught. To follow his teachings, we have to give because it is the right thing not because the government takes our money to give it to someone else.

All you do by your OP is confirm that you have no idea what Christ taught - and yet you have the audacity to tell others that they are not Christians. Stop worrying so much about whether Mormons are Christians - it is not your business. Worry about your own soul.
1 is wrong also
Jesus was a carpenter, he built things
he had THINGS

A clear case of the devil quoting scripture.

A badly informed devil.

He was not involved in treason against Rome. His main message concerned the excessive formalism of Jewish practice at the time and triumph of religiosity over faith.

He couldn't have been guilty of treason for fighting against a foreign occupation. Dumbass.

JESUS WAS THE SON OF MAN...The Invocation of GOD incarnate upon the Earth and didn't care a WIT of Man's politics. *INCLUDING YOURS ZONA*

Son of Man means "the human one". Dumbass. You claim he didn't care about politics but somehow have overlooked the bulk of his mission was fighting against the political institutions of his day.

Also, Jesus himself said he was not omniscient so how could he be God incarnate?

He was a radical political revolutionary but the problem of seeing it that way is viewing him through modern Western eyes. There was no concept of separation of Church and State at that time.

He was a Socialist by any standards because he advocated common ground for everyone. You are correct in that he did not want to use a military, State, or police force to make it happen. He was kind of hoping people would do it on their own and thus largely remove any need for any type of Political institution forcing unjust laws onto citizens.

This whole discussion is completely off base. Jesus was completely non-political. Anyone one that thinks that they can make any conclusions about Jesus' political preferences doesn't know squat about Christianity.

Try reading the Gospels yourself sometime, not just listen to a second hand cherry-picked interpertation of your pastor.

Seriously, the Gospels really aren'y very long - yet almost no one reads them for themselves. I did and I'm not even religious.

Anyone who claims:

"Jesus was completely non-political."

Is a fucking ignorant idiot.
