WW1 - about 20 million

WW2 - who knows - maybe 80 million

Compare that to wars later

Irag/Afg are pathetic
 
The war between Iran and Iraq cost close to one million lives.
If earlier wars had much higher "body counts" isn't that because more soldiers died of their wounds, and there were high body counts in the civilian population due to epidemics and malnutrition?
