"Scientists of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are quite certain: by using fossil fuels man is currently destroying the climate and our future. We have one last chance, we are told: quickly renounce modern industrial society – painfully but for a good cause.

For many years, I was an active supporter of the IPCC and its CO2 theory. Recent experience with the UN's climate panel, however, forced me to reassess my position. In February 2010, I was invited as a reviewer for the IPCC report on renewable energy. I realised that the drafting of the report was done in anything but a scientific manner. The report was littered with errors and a member of Greenpeace edited the final version. These developments shocked me. I thought, if such things can happen in this report, then they might happen in other IPCC reports too.

Good practice requires double-checking the facts. After all, geoscientists have checked the pre-industrial climate, over the past 10,000 years: this isolates natural climate drivers. According to the IPCC, natural factors hardly play any role in today's climate so we would expect a rather flat and boring climate history.

Far from it: real, hard data from ice cores, dripstones, tree rings and ocean or lake sediment cores reveal significant temperature changes of more than 1°C, with warm and cold phases alternating in a 1,000-year cycle......"

Global warming: second thoughts of an environmentalist - Telegraph

Note that the discussion is no longer about prevention, but about dealing with presently inevitable consequences, and amelioration of even worse to come if we continue on the path we are on.

Climate change discussions heat up | Swiss Re - Leading Global Reinsurer

The event, aimed at reinvigorating conversations on climate change among US policy-makers, was also attended by the President of the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA), the Chief Risk Officer of Willis Re, and the insurance industry director of Ceres, a non-profit organization that leads a national coalition of investors, environmental organizations and other public interest groups to address sustainability challenges such as global climate change.

The senators recognized the crucial role the insurance industry has to play in the ongoing debate around climate change. Senator Sanders stated: "It is extremely important that we have the scientific community documenting the impact of global warming but it is equally important we have people in the business community who are also speaking out about the risks associated with global warming. Perhaps no industry better understands the impact of global warming than the insurance industry whose job it is to analyze risk."

In Mark's address he highlighted the need for an international agreement on carbon emissions reductions which in turn requires a strong commitment from the US Congress for such an agreement to be reached. He also spoke about the need to increase the resiliency of society to weather related risks.

"Society is simply too vulnerable to weather impacts as we saw so clearly in the unprecedented flooding, tornado and drought events that occurred in states such as Vermont, Rhode Island, New York, Missouri and Texas last year."

However, there are opportunities to significantly reduce these impacts through investment in economically attractive risk reduction measures. Mark added: "Our research suggests that in Forida, for example, up to 40% of future annual expected losses could be averted by such an approach."

Which is precisely why they are losing decisively. Its called Economic Fantasy 101.:D

This is one of 1 million illustrations of how much fantasy is a part of the warmers economics...............

Pictured below are about 55 General Elecrtric diesel engines.........they are rated at anywhere between 4,400 and 6,000 horsepower. These are the units that move the tens of billions of dollars of food across the United States each year. Without them? America starves. The railroads have paid GE about 2.5 million/ unit. LIfespan is about 25 years with retrofitting. There are thousands of these operating all over the US as we speak.

original-3.jpg

Now ask yourself..............what are the chances of these units being shut down tomorrow in an effort to avoid the effects of global warming??

Need I elaborate for a single second more?:eusa_dance::eusa_dance::eusa_dance::up:

Like I say..........Economic Fantasyland 101.

Same ol', same ol'. No, we cannot just instantly cease to use fossil fuels. No more than we instantly stopped using horses with the development of the ICE. But we will cease to use fossil fuels in the future. Depending on how quickly we add CO2 to the atmosphere, and Arctic clathrates, we will either do it in a phased fashion, a compromise between what needs to be done and what can be done, or, Mama Nature will deal us a blow that will simply change the whole paradigm, and there will be hell to pay for all. And Mama Nature may do it even if we make our best effort.

We have not been down this road before, we simply don't know what the consequences of the GHGs we have already put into the atmosphere are.

What's China and India doing? Opening 2 or 3 new coal fired plants a week. Why? Because they're exempt. Why are they exempt? So that manufacturing will move to those countries and the US will shut down.

Goodbye comfortable current standard of living. Goodbye future for our children. Thanks Old Rocks!

Indeed..........what we're talking about is going back to the mid 1800's.

Check out the photo above of the 50+ diesel engines........there are thousands of them. What do we replace them with? At what cost? What is the alternative? Who is paying for the alternative?

Electrify the freight lines? fAiL.........the northeast's electricty is powered by coal which the environmentalists are in hyper mode to close. Grid implications? Relative costs vs. diesel power? All these questions...........all conveniently ignored by all the warming folks as if they were a non-factor.

Good intentions and idealism are wonderful things in life...........until the train is forced to make a stop in Realville.:slap:

Bottom line: If you are not smart enough to see, how global warming is accelerating, you are suspected of being too stupid, to figure out humans have the responsibility, to reverse their trend, of challenging human and animal habitat, in an accelerated way.

If you are not smart enough, to see how humans should at least be suspected, of aggravating global warming, you are probably not very smart, at all, and you cannot understand cumulative human impact, of defoliating and burning fossil fuels, with the perennial plant media, since the 18th Century. Hey! DDs! Humans changed the whole look of the land, so the seas are fucking up, and CH4 is outgassing.

So WHAT if humans aren't farting? But you ARE farting, and shitting, too! Those are our cows, and our CUMULATIVE activities, since the 18th Century are melting the ice, so the rampant outgassing is our responsibility. Maybe you are too stupid, to understand how atmospheric molecules of three or more atoms tend to contribute, to the greenhouse effect, or the planet wouldn't be very warm at all. But warming is ACCELERATING.

If you are not smart enough for any of that, you don't deserve to review any public agendas, as global warming and oceanic acidification ACCELERATE, since you may be enough of an idiot, to post a smily at an environment thread, but you don't have the grounds or the reasoning, necessary, to make any sort of informed decision. And then along comes suckassbil, who has nothing else going on, but smilies and rah-rah, anti-warming. What is that idiot's motive, for his thousands of smily-rants, with gap-tooth spelling and grammar and tweaky sentences?

We will see a new high, for average global temperature, since 1880, every few years, then about every third year, and then every other year. That is ACCELERATION, which is evident, RIGHT NOW. You are DDD, if you cannot understand acceleration, so don't pretend to understand physics or reasoning, if you fail, here. Look, DDs. The smart people already know, 1998 was hot, then 2005, then 2010, and 2012 looks like another one.

You may be a failure at any sort of common sense because you stupidly intend, to consume fossil fuels, when we have not yet properly researched any of the agricultural or manufacturing aspects of only two of the primary biomass crops, hemp and switchgrass, when both have incidental uses, going on. So don't pretend a good attempt has been made, to investigate either biomass or re-greening. Attempts to rant and post smilies are evident, instead, to oppose scientific reports and studies. What do you think happens, in Congress and legislatures, where similar retards get elected, to oppose any logical notice, of sea level rise, such as in North Carolina and Virginia? Stupidity is evident, at high levels of government, where 450,000 elected officials waste time and money, in the US, with countless appointed officials, all with a carbon footprint.

Black Obamney has hinted his administration will prioritize climate change, IF he gets re-elected, while white Obamney has CRS, and you can't ask him about Bain, or Bullygate, or Mormonism, but he likes to talk about the "economy," with his head up his ass, and he doesn't know VALUE.

The recent UN sustainability conference in Rio looks like more junk media, which will not endorse any re-greening or biomass media. The 1992 conference resulted in the Kyoto Accords, which don't endorse re-greening or biomass media, so idiots don't have any practical direction, and politicians like Obama won't even attend Rio or Kyoto, since look at all the tweak Obama is doing, for petroleum production, lately.

Blah, blah, China, blabity-blab, India, tell you what. Those nations are emerging, from the third world, and their citizens are smarter, per capita, than Americans, who cannot lead or do their own work, without suffering a lot of outsourcing. Know why? Americans are mostly retards. Sometimes I post at forums like this, just to keep the better educated people company, and that way, I don't get lonely, since I live in the US, where most of ya'all are fucktards, be you Democrats or Republicans or just stupid, by yourselves.

You smart people know who you are. Keep up the good work, no matter what idiots like suckassbil spam up, in thousands of ridiculous posts.

Its the third world im worried about....................If we dont invest hundreds of billions in their economies and infrastructure they are surely doomed !!!!!!!!!!

We must act now, before its toooooooooo late........LOL

Heck -- just sit at the end of Hartzman Airport in Atlanta (preferably at night with a friend).
Those machines are on the chopping block as well..

IPCC is a joke, it's an EnviroMarxist front that brags about using Climate policy to redistribute wealth

For all of the far left guys, application of climate change economics is but an afterthought.

I remember about 90 years ago reading Plato, Hobbes, Moore, Rousseau et. al...........when you're 20, it all seems so brilliant. Jawdropping, in fact. Until you realize, these bozo's never wrote on how the economics of their utopian societies would work. Fact is, none of their shit works when applied practically..............never has in the history of the world.

Why can I be so 100% certain I will always be winning? Because I know that for the k00k dreams to be realized, civilized society would have to be permanently turned on its ear. Politically........it will NEVER hapen.......its just the way it is much to the shigrin of the k00ks.

Interestingly, if the k00ks could abandon, for a moment, that collectivisim is the way to solve climate change, we might actually get ther assumming climate change is real. I'll ceed that it is for a moment......but the collectivist mentality will NEVER be a solution and it is the only way they know.

Individualism and the beauty of the innovation that comes with it far surpasses collectivism as a solution to "climate change".

Collectivism, Climate Change, and Economic Freedom

Since the k00ks reject it out of hand, I can only conclude that their goals have nothing to do with the science.

What kind of retard are you? An old retard, on fresh methamphetamines?

Your youth was wasted, whenever that happened. You drop names, but I doubt an idiot like you read books and understood what he was reading. You MAYBE read wingnut tripe, at websites, with your head up your ass.

No way would I ever hang out at USMB, to enter 3 posts per life, like you make. But you do about 3000 rants, per year, which all look like tweaky-freaky-geekage.
