War On Peace! Trump has done more damage to the prevailing world order since WWII, diplomacy is dead

this is one of the most consequential and poorly understood changes in American history

American diplomacy is under siege. Offices across the State Department sit empty while abroad, the military-industrial complex has assumed the work once undertaken by peacemakers. We're becoming a nation that shoots first and asks questions later.

Diplomacy has declined after decades of political cowardice, shortsightedness, and outright malice - but it may just offer America a way out of a world at war

gone are the days of Richard Holbrooke, who made peace in Bosnia and died while trying to do so in Afghanistan
You want some cheese with that whine?

Thomas Friedman, that great philosopher, lamented that the US was turning its back on the future and past for the sake of the present. one wonders where the nation's back is now facing. maybe we're spinning. let's say we are spinning.

the US needs diplomacy now more than ever, and its nowhere to be found.
The only diplomacy in your world occurs out in space, as when your astronaut friends at the gay bar are negotiating which one of them gets to fly to Uranus.

That and John Kerry committing Treason by working with Iran in violation of the Logan Act.

i bet you didn't know this.

Obama approved more than double the arms deals with foreign regimes than bush, and did so more than any president in history. when Ronan Farrow confronted O & Crooked H with this, they were taken aback.

"i'm not saying it was perfect", she said.

being a diplomat, a profession which only decades earlier had drawn the greatest minds from America's universities, is officially dying, withering on the vine!

"if you give an order to the Defense Department, there's an 80 percent chance it will be implemented. if you give it to the State Department, there's an 80 percent chance there will be a discussion" - Howlin Henry Kissinger

Bob Sacamano, a late nineteenth century Congressman, accused diplomats "of working our ruin by creating a desire for foreign customs and follies. the disease is imported by our returning diplomats and by foreign ambassadors sent here by monarchs and despots to corrupt and destroy our american ideals." he suggested confining diplomats on their return, "as we quarantine foreign rags through fear of cholera"

Dick Holbrooke was a detailed observer of the world and indomitable in his excitement about it. he was the rare asshole who was worth it!
