War on Drugs

If we took anyone cause using or selling out to the park and shot them in the head we shortly wouldn't have drugs to worry about.

Is anyone surprised........ We have satellites and more in space and we can't stop the flow of drugs?

Hey crop dust those fields.. dah

"Villaneuva also pointed the finger at the U.S. in providing an example of how it fights the ‘war on drugs” stating, “It’s like pest control companies, they only control. If you finish off the pests, you are out of a job. If they finish the drug business, they finish their jobs.”

I suppose the line above from the article pretty much sums up all that many have suspected for years about US efforts in the so-called war on drugs.

Yep. It's never been about ending drugs, more about making people more drug dependent.

You have to balance the Constitutional rights of the people in the freest Nation in the world with the need to control drugs. Securing the freaking borders would be a step in the right direction but the party of no family values seems reluctant to do so

Our government needs a serious looking at...... all of it all of them.

I have a few with drugs.

(1) genetic damage in reproduction of user

(2) multiple birth defects, mental retardation, missing brain and body parts, arrested development

(3) unfortunate future for humanity.

(4) it's too damn late to stop addiction once a person with a propensity to addiction starts taking drugs.

(5) future generations can be harmed.

These are just my opinions after a lifetime of reading studies, etc. If you contact sellers or their friends for information before studies are done, you will believe nothing could ever go wrong if you started drug use or engage in drugs for recreational purposes if one "controls use."

Too bad psychiatrists/physicians do not open their files up for people to see the damages done to people who haven't even begun to live yet having such large problems, they cannot cope with normal living if they are hyperactive because a parent used drugs, just a couple of times to feel like they were okay, to meet a mate, to facilitate a rape so the person will not have to learn social graces of courting, etc.

When I studied Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Doctors weren't telling their female patients to avoid drinking before and after getting pregnant, and if the baby showed obvious facial features associated with FAS, they weren't telling the mother what the problem with their baby's face or arrested developmental issues were because she was alcoholic, which causes deformities if used any time along the course of gestation.

As few as one drink taken at the wrong time of pregnancy (usually before a woman knows she is pregnant) can cause quite a severe deformity in a baby, some of which are not obvious at birth.

Take 2 drugs--pills and alcohol--at any given time, the likelihood of developmental problems synergize exponentially.

The most obvious developmental problems are when the mother does drugs of any kind.

The unknown factor is if the father is using or has damaged his sperm cells dna by doing drugs.

What a stupid bunch of people live on this planet, listening to idiots causing them to do idiotic things that hurt the next generation.

Wish it were any other way.

It's about gubmint creating a never-ending police state program for itself, as drug use/abuse has been with us since someone accidentally left the barley out in the rain.

That's the real addiction.

As well there have been murderers and rapists with us too. The difference is murder and rape are not yet socially acceptable.

There has never been a war on drugs: Only time it appears there is a "war on drugs" is when non-cronies of our famous drug pushers and dealers - pharmaceutical industry, doctors and FDA - are also profiting from the drug market.

If pot was legalized the deficit would shrink.

Legalizing pot would raise more than Buffett Rule
<snip>
Yet a 2010 study by the libertarian Cato Institute found that legalizing marijuana alone would save the federal government $3.3 billion in reduced enforcement expenditures per year and raise an additional $5.8 billion in revenue assuming it would be taxed. If all drugs were legalized, the study estimated it would save the federal government $15.6 billion a year and raise an additional $31.2 billion in revenue -- for a total of $46.8 billion. That's slightly higher than the $46.7 billion the Buffett Rule tax is projected to raise over the full decade.

March 24, 2017 ) -- Police in Peru seized 3,000 pounds of cocaine bearing the name and likeness of Argentina soccer star Lionel Messi.
"We impounded a ton and a half of cocaine in the port of Callao," Peruvian Police said in a statement.

Police said the cocaine, bagged in 1,282 packages and bearing Messi's name and likeness, as well as the shield of the King of Spain, was en route to the United States and Belgium. Prosecutors specializing in drugs said the shipment of drugs discovered during the weekend was held in three containers belonging to the Valle de Oro Perú S.A.C. company. The drug seizure is valued to be worth $85 million, La Republica reported.

The huge load of cocaine was contained in 1,282 packages and was on its way to the United States and Belgium, Peruvian Police said. An anti-drug official said the cocaine could belong to a group working for Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's Sinaloa Cartel.

An anti-drug official said the shipment could belong to a cell working for Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's Sinaloa Cartel. "As the hours go by, it will be possible to advance in the investigation, not only in the identification of the members of this network, but in the capture of the recipients," the official said. "There is no doubt that this is an international organization. And it is likely that the Mexican Sinaloa Cartel card will be behind this impounded shipment."

Suspected dark web drug dealer arrested headed to beard competition
Sept. 30, 2017 -- U.S. law enforcement arrested a French man suspected of running a "dark web" drug ring after he traveled to the United States to compete in a beard-growing competition.
On Friday, authorities arrested Gal Vallerius, 38, who they suspect is the man behind the online handle "OxyMonster." Vallerius was arrested after landing in Atlanta, while he was on his way to the World Beard and Mustache Championships in Austin, Texas. Photos of Vallerius on his now-deleted Instagram account show him sporting a long red beard.

Investigators said the account registered to OxyMonster was set up as an administrator on the dark web trading site Dream Market, where buyers and sellers use the anonymous cryptocurrency bitcoin to move narcotics. In addition to being an administrator, the OxyMonster account was responsible for selling controlled prescription drugs including Oxycontin and Ritalin.

The Miami Herald reported that, according to an affidavit filed in federal court by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, a laptop computer Vallerius was carrying produced evidence he is the man behind the account. The laptop also contained links to a 500,000 bitcoin account. "OxyMonster knowingly participated in the Dream Market conspiracy not only as a vendor, but also in a leadership and organizational role as a senior moderator and administrator," court documents state. The Herald reported the trip was Vallerius' first to the United States. He was scheduled to compete in the "full beard, 30.1-40 cm" category.

November 22, 2017 - First the F-22. Now HIMARS? The U.S. military is turning to some serious firepower to go after Taliban drug labs in Afghanistan.
U.S. and Afghan forces this week attacked Taliban opium-production facilities with the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, which features a launcher mounted on an M1140 truck frame. As my colleague Oriana Pawlyk wrote in back-to-back stories here on DefenseTech, the Lockheed Martin Corp.-made F-22 Raptor on Sunday made its combat debut in Afghanistan.

But as Pawlyk reported, the stealthy fifth-generation, twin-engine fighter developed for air-to-air superiority conducted a ground-attack mission, pummeling suspected drug labs in the country with small diameter bombs. Similarly for the counter-narcotics mission, U.S. commanders turned to HIMARS, which is also made by Lockheed and carries a six-pack launcher or one MGM-140 ATACMS missile on the bed of a medium-duty truck.

The technology seems to be increasingly versatile — the Navy and Marine Corps just last month test-fired the system from the deck of the amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD-23) to gauge its ability to conduct precision fires at a shore target. In that exercise, the HIMARS destroyed an unidentified land-based target from a distance of 70 kilometers, or roughly 43 miles, using a Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System Unitary, or GMLRS-U.

It’s not immediately clear whether the F-22 and HIMARS strikes suggest an evolving counternarcotics mission for the U.S. military in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is the world’s main source of opium and heroin production — and the Taliban generates an estimated $100 million to $155 million annually in illicit income from the drug trade, potentially more than a quarter of total Taliban annual revenue, according to a 2014 report by the Congressional Research Service.
