In Seattle - it used to be easy to get from downtown to I-5 via Mercer Way.

Simply go down Westlake Ave - one way/ 4 lanes - and hang a right onto Mercer a few blocks from I-5 entrance ramps.

Piece of cake.

Now - they are fixing the Mercer Mess - and you can't use Westlake to get onto Mercer any longer.

What kind of a way is this to run a railroad??

They replace car lanes for "bike lanes" and "pedestrian paths" ............................

The stuff the OP details is just the collateral damage residue.

All that matters with the Mercer job is contracts get signed and money starts to flow. Some of it here, some of it there, and some of it everywhere. And then somewhere along the line some, the rest of us know nothing about, make out like bandits, whether in cold hard cash, favorable rulings, protective laws, looking the other way, whatever. It's how the system works, just a matter of which political party is calling the shots.
