War escalates in Damascus

A new partial ceasefire in the Eastern Ghouta has been implemented. The agreement includes only Jaysh al-Islam (Army of Islam), the other major factions did not sign the deal and the combat operations will continue in their areas.
Jaysh al-Islam says it hopes this will end the "siege conditions" and announced this would lead to a political solution.

Whether the group is tired of war or if they plan to abuse a new de-escalation zone to smuggle in arms and fighters, cannot be guessed now. It is or was one of the largest groups in Syria, although they have little presence outside of Damascus. Clear should be that a political solution would include the disappearance of insurgent control. They might be allowed to stay for the time being while the government revives the public services but in the end the group would end up as gaming clan at the maximum.
