Will the UN prosecute the U.S. for War Crimes? I'm guessing not. But why not?

‘Inexcusable, possibly even criminal’: UN rights chief says Kunduz bombing may be war crime

An air strike on a hospital in the Afghan city of Kunduz that killed at least 19 people is “utterly tragic, inexcusable, and possibly even criminal,” said the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, calling for a transparent investigation.

"This deeply shocking event should be promptly, thoroughly and independently investigated and the results should be made public," Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein said in a statement on Saturday.

"The seriousness of the incident is underlined by the fact that, if established as deliberate in a court of law, an airstrike on a hospital may amount to a war crime."

He described the bombing as "utterly tragic, inexcusable, and possibly even criminal."

"International and Afghan military planners have an obligation to respect and protect civilians at all times, and medical facilities and personnel are the object of a special protection. These obligations apply no matter whose air force is involved, and irrespective of the location."...

What do you call it when an errant bomb takes out a hundred Muslims?

Answer: A good start.

C'est la vie. I wish I could remember who said it. Germans drop bombs. British drop bombs. With specific enemy targets in mind. Everyone feared the US bomb strikes.

If they intentionally targeted the hospital, sure it would be criminal, but we all know they didnt, so this thread is kind of a waste of everyones time, dont ya think?

Isn't it predictable though that Putin takes out a hardened ISIS compound while Obama takes out a hospital? Putin is laughing his ass off again at Obama.

No, what's predictable is that you and most others on the right would contrive such a ridiculous lie; also predictable is your admiration for an authoritarian warmonger such as Putin.

"WAR CRIME: U.S. Strike In Afghanistan Kills Doctors And Patients In Hospital..."

You're as ignorant as to what constitutes a 'war crime' as to what constitutes a 'police state.'

At least you're consistent at being ignorant and wrong.

you're as confused as ever.

HE didn't say it was a war crime...Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein said it was a war crime...more of your standard dishonest distortions

Its preposterous to have the expectation of a perfect record. A thousand different things could have led to that.

Especially since we have no one there to direct any air strikes. Hell, we don't even have any allies or friends to direct any air strikes. We're blind.

Uh, we had a President back then. We don't have a President now.

I seriously doubt that this was intentional.

Possible, but bloody unlikely.

We're not the same kind of schmucks that ISIS, the Taliban, et al, are.

Besides, it's far too much of a P(ublic) R(elations) hassle, and not worth all the paperwork.

Far more likely, that it was a simple mistake.

I've heard chatter on the news media that US and/or NATO authorities knew about the civilians there, some 30-60 minutes before the strike occurred.

Do any of these retards have any frigging clue, how long it takes, for information, followed by decisions and confirmations, to make it up the food chain, and back down again?

Doubtful.

It takes time, for a combination of information, confirmations and decision-making, to find its way up the chain of command, and then back down to the operational sortie level once again.

Even in this day-and-age, 30 to 60 minutes probably was nowhere near enough, to call off a strike.

It's a damned shame... it's a pity... it's downright tragic.

But it's War, and, in War, far more frequently than in Peace... Shit Happens.

By all means... investigate... and, if wrongdoing actually occurred, then, bring those responsible up on charges.

But I seriously doubt that any substantive wrongdoing is going to be found in any of this.

At least, beyond the realm of the soft-and-squishy, whiny-bitch sort of thing that passes for 'substance' amongst the Fifth Columnists living in our midst.
