Wal-Mart has announced thousands of layoffs since publicizing bonuses and benefits expansion

Wal-Mart has announced thousands of layoffs since publicizing bonuses and benefits expansion

Wal-Mart to offer one-time bonus of up to $1,000 – only for 20-year management veterans

( And to add, they plan on replacing the veterans with new managers with less pay )

Many companies have announced new bonuses or accelerated schedules on pre-announced perks since tax reforms passed. But only 2% of American adults say they’ve gotten a raise, bonus or other benefits because of the new tax law, according to a recent study.
COST, -1.28% Wal-Mart’s head-to-head with Amazon has extended into online grocery, voice commerce, speedy online order delivery and other areas.

BTW: Middle class tax cuts will expire while the top 1% keeps theirs permanently
House tax plan: All in middle class eventually get tax hike?

Then why did they come out with the Bogus lies about the $1000.00 bonuses ? They made it sound like it was for every employee .

Also we have to look at the fact that these tax cuts will go to building Robots that will take over every minimum wage job
in the country within 10 years ..

One corporation's failure isn't any better proof of the effects of the tax cuts than several corporations' high-profile increases in employee compensation.

If you honestly believe that the fate of a worldwide corporate entity straddling industries as universal and competitive as department and grocery stores can, in and of itself, provide you with adequate information to assess the effect of US corporate tax rates, when you aren't taking any other factors or any other businesses into account, then I can tell you with 100 percent confidence that economics is not the conversation for you.

Wasn't it Trump that took credit for these corporate industries giving bogus raises and bonuses ?

The GOP is again screwing over the Millennials , the middle class tax cuts will expire in 2025.

Yup. Politicians like to take credit when good things happen, that's a given.

At any rate, I'm not trying to defend Donald Trump's knowledge of macroeconomics. I'm simply stating that the knowledge you've displayed with this thread is approximately nil, and that you're well over your head in any conversation regarding economics.

As far as the tax cuts being permanent for corporations but expiring for the middle class, you're simply not thinking it through.

The idea with the corporate tax cuts is that, if the cost of doing business in the US drops, businesses will be more inclined to do business in the US. That generally involves the purchase of property and the purchase/manufacture of infrastructure, which is expensive as shit. If it looked like in 4 to 8 more years, those corporate tax cuts were probably going to evaporate, nobody in their right mind would invest the money that's required at the front end of starting/relocating a business only to have their profitability yanked out from under them before they could turn a profit on the initial expense.

Conversely, the tax cuts for the middle class are set to expire unless, as with all expiring tax cuts, the house, senate, and president jointly decide to keep them. Do you think that a sudden tax hike on middle and working class earners will happen without a fuss, or do you see a lot of the spineless panderers in congress and the senate voting AGAINST extending benefits for the middle class? Not likely.

Anyway, seriously, man. I'm not gonna say you don't have the mental capacity for an economics conversation, but you've clearly done zero research and made zero effort to understand the point of view from the opposing perspective. Read up or shut up.

It's mainly because they screw with your hours. The manager and assistant manager get bonuses for man hour cost control. Which is normal in business..But when I worked for them they promised me full time and yet by Christmas we were down to twenty hours a weeks.. So I quite and got a real job. I work at warehouse #4 in Bentonville, Ar.

That's just supply and demand. Stocking shelves at Walmart isn't a lucrative career because approximately EVERYBODY is capable of doing that job. If the ability to stock shelves isn't commanding a living wage, get a better skillset.

These workers were lied to just like the coal miners ... these minimum wage jobs will be extinct . Amazon already has a grocery store without any cashiers . Did you hear about that?

Get your stuff and go: Amazon opens store with no cashiers

The online retailer opened its Amazon Go concept to the public Monday in Seattle, which lets shoppers take milk, potato chips or ready-to-eat salads off its shelves and just walk out. Amazon's technology charges

I hate to break it to ya but the world doesn't owe you a job.

You can't compare a corporation that relies on non skilled labor and one that relies on skilled labor.

I have worked at Walmart twice and both times you either had idiots (including the GM) and people looking for another job.

So Walmart can replace everyone who works for them without a problem. Why treat them well.

Corporations worth billions and trillions yet the majority of their workers need welfare to help support themselves....sad...

Why pay no skilled workers a living wage when you can off load the cost to tax payers?
