I think you're full of shit. The movement has no political agenda and isn't sided with liberals or conservatives. Everyone in the movement has their own beliefs about what they want the movement to accomplish and that's why you see everything from anarchists to socialists and so on. Not to mention, last time I checked anyways, they were planning on protesting the Democratic Convention because in the end both parties are corrupt. This whole thread is such a joke :uhoh3:

You're misinformed. OWS is fully funded & endorsed by the Democratic Party,George Soros, and many other far Left organizations. They may have started out as having no political agenda or being non-partisan,but that's long long gone now. The far Left Entitlement nutters control OWS completely. Now it's just all about the "Gimme Gimme Gimme" Entitlement stuff. They had a chance to do something good in the beginning. But now that opportunity is gone forever.

Even if Soros did contribute to the movement, they're still way to unorganized to have a leader or any sort of agenda for that matter. Regardless of the movement itself winning however, they are bringing economic inequality and political corruption into the lives of the masses, and as I've said before, politics is actually becoming a talking point amongst people of all ages... something that hasn't really been seen since the radio shifted the focus of the people towards celebrities and other useless bullshit. The fact of the matter is, the people running our government (with the exception of a few) are looking out for their own interests and not the peoples. That's something that needs to change, wouldn't you agree?

I can agree with your sentiment but that's not what OWS is about at this point. Like i said, they had a real chance to do some good early on. They started out a bit non-partisan and with no political agenda but then quickly morphed into the same ole far Left 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' Entitlement stuff. They are now fully controlled by Soros, the Democratic Party, and many other extremist Left organizations. And now Wall Street has shrugged them off and is kicking their ass. They had a chance but blew it. That's how i see it anyway.

Wall Street is winning, they always do, but that does not make the battle any less worth fighting because the alternative is to be scared little serfs afraid to speak up and irritate the bosses.

What would be a sign that Wall Street was losing, a huge financial panic?
It would be, like, for the traders on the floor of the stock exchange to, like, not be so mean and greedy and, like, all hold hands and, like, form a drum circle and, like, stick it to The Man, man. And then all the hate and meanness in the world would just, like, fade away and we could all be one happy family and stuff. Like, wouldn't that be groovy, man?

Don't negate the UNIONS...

They are very adept at shit disturbing...

The poor Obama/OWS supporters, they must be so damn confused on what their Talking-Points should be. Some come here everyday boasting about how well Wall Street is doing, not realizing they're supposed to hate Wall Street. Clearly their Talking-Point signals have been severely crossed up. Do they love Wall Street? Do they hate Wall Street? Who knows? They don't even know. I guess all that HuffPoop and MSLSD stuff isn't helping them much. Stick around a bit longer and you're sure to see an Obama/OWS supporter here crowing about how great Wall Street is doing. It's pretty bizarre but very funny too.

Boasting about it as Obama demonizes them on one hand and garners campaign funds from them all in the same breath...

Astounding.

The sheep are confused by the actions of thier herders.

Yeah, there are a few rabid loyal Obama/OWS supporters who routinely come here crowing about how well Wall Street is doing. It's hilarious everytime i see them doing that. They don't have a clue as to what their Talking-Points should be anymore. Should they love Wall Street? Should they hate Wall Street? They're just so confused. I guess they see Wall Street doing well as somehow a benefit to their guy in the White House. So they they're torn between cheerleading for Wall Street and hating Wall Street. They just don't know which Talking-Point to embrace. Stick around awhile longer and i'm sure you'll see a couple of them expressing this confusion. It's some fun entertainment.

Indeed. You try to educate them and it is roundly rejected. So why not laugh at thier foibles as a consolation prize?

the OWS mission was the change the narrative from deficits to income inequity.

In that sense OWS was successful.
Actually, it changed the narrative from deficits to "hey, look at those trustafarians camping out in the middle of the city, smoking dope, raping each other and shitting all over the place," then it went back to deficits. But at least those brats think they had their own little Woodstock moment, which counts for something, I suppose.

BOOYAH!

OWS changed the discussion. That alone is a major victory. If the Dems follow up, and use the real inequities that exist in our system, present remedies for those inequities, we may see some real progress this election.
You do know, don't you, that your saintlike Dems are perpetuating and profiting from those inequities?

They don't give a shit about you, Roxy. But you just keep blindly pulling that D lever.
No shit. Voting for the people that are taking advantage...stuffin' thier pockets...and 'the other guys' are responsible.

The sheep are indeed bleating...
Useful idiots are useful.

To thier shepards.

Is it me or has anyone else noticed the same Obama/OWS supporters are always here boasting about how well Wall Street is doing these days? Are these people mixed up or what? They can't even grasp what their Talking-Points should be anymore. They hate Wall Street, they love Wall Street. Which is it? I can't keep up with the Left anymore. Bizarre stuff.

Bull shit. Their agenda is completely political. Unless you don't think ending capitalism and installing socialism political. They will not protest the Democratic Convention I promise you.

When I say the OWS movement is dead, I mean in the sense that no one cares about it anymore. Oh, probably when the summer comes around they will see their numbers increase, heck, where else are the stoners, the chronically unemployed, the Anarchists, and the generally brain dead gonna go for excitement?

You will probably, especially at first warm weather, hear about them on the MSM and even from obama, they are after all the DNC's most useful idiots, but no one else really cares anymore.

Stick a fork in the OWS dumbasses, they're done.

Hugely. Those of us with sense and want to be left alone to our liberty as we see it are tired of those that wish to impose thier brand of liberty on the rest of us.

In the sense that either side could win, we lose. Anarchy is not a desired outcome, but then neither is a Wall Street with rampant corruption.

They will not protest the Democratic Convention I promise you.
I so wish they would, though. It'd be like '68 all over again.

The GOP can be bluffed by protesters, but the Democrats are more than happy to bust some hippie skulls!

How about mass prosecutions for control fraud?

"This week is International Fraud Awareness Week. In this Q/A, Pam Verick, the director and solution leader of fraud risk management for Protiviti, discusses fraud, how Occupy Wall Street amplified the visibility of it and what the company is hearing from its clients about it. The conversation has been edited lightly for clarity.

"Describe the prevalence of fraud in our financial system and our economy more broadly.

"I think fraud and misconduct are serious issues that detract from the health and stability of our economy when you think of the importance of transparency of our system, and the viability of our markets here in the U.S. and abroad.

"The issue is, when you trust that markets are stable and that they are safe from issues of corruption and financial abuse, investors are more willing to take risk."

I voted for Occupy on the grounds that prior to its emergence Wall Street was unopposed. The fact that an opposition has arisen where there was none means that the opposition is winning, although there are many battles yet to fight.

As usual, my friends on the right have no clue what the movement is about or even where the battlefield lies, and so are evaluating it based on false criteria (e.g. how the stock market is doing). The target has always been, not Wall Street itself, but the corrupt influence of Wall Street over the government, so forget the stock prices and try to evaluate that. It's still in existence, of course, but the fact that the subject is being addressed in politics now and that liberalism in the Democratic Party is starting to show feeble signs of life counts as a victory.

As for the effect on the dialog, let's see what comes up in a Google search for "income inequality":

So there you go. As usual, Occupy can quote Mark Twain regarding exaggeration of the reports of its demise. ;)

Deregulation of the banking industry throughout the '80s, '90s and the first decade of the new century gave Wall Street the "free market" necessary for sustained examples of control fraud. The results were inevitable, leading to the steepest recession since the Great Depression.

Greed and fraud reward short term profit which is what Wall Street is crowing about now, but it comes at the expense of long term viability. Which isn't good for the 99%.
