Very misleading. More like the parents would like to control HOW their kids are taught these things, and by WHOM.
Not everyone believes the smiling lady from the state has their absolute best interest in mind. Education policies can be filled with political or religious biases and parents have the right to opt out of certain things for their kids, especially if they feel their kids are too young for some things, or may have special life circumstances. Ah but yes, the STATE always knows better than the dumb knuckle dragging parents. Whatever happened to diversity of thought and choice?

This was a very wise decision. The parents who are against this cannot keep their children by their sides for the next 60 years. Talking to kids about things like how to decide whether to consent to sexual activity or not and how to do so makes so much sense, as does discussing how sex works, birth control, and how STDs are transmitted. The kids are going to encounter these issues probably sooner rather than later in their lives. They also will encounter people of different faiths, and so must understand them to make these encounters cordial at least.

The people who want to keep these kids from learning about these issues are not preparing them for adult life. Having basic knowledge about these matters does not mean that one will necessarily go out and indulge in something that is against their faith.

People have always had religious objections to what their kids encounter in mainstream society and talk to their kids about it. If one is Jewish, one explains to one's children that Jewish people do not eat pork. Muslims do the same, but add that alcohol is also forbidden. I suppose that adherents of various religions also explain to their kids that they should not have sex except with their wife or husband. Amish kids are not sheltered from the knowledge that cars exist, but their parents and church members tell the kids not to drive them.

These venues have no obligation to give this fraud a forum. Judging from the posted link, the city councils concluded that his speech would offend their community values. He can go elsewhere to spew his hatred. Perhaps a local auditorium would rent to him.

His continued attempts to frame his views as representing the entire Christian faith is absolutely sickening. No matter what the headline screams (Christianity BANNED in the UK), there have been no reports that St. Paul's, Westminster Abbey, and Canterbury have been shut down.

I think you are confused. I come from Wales where non conformity, not going to the Anglican Church, was a badge of honour. Across the UK you will find Methodists, Wesleyans, Baptists, Presbyterians and so on. None of those has ever been "fined or worse" for not attending the C of E. Not now or ever. The catholicism thing was a national security issue that was resolved before the war of independence.

Regarding "Rev" Graham he has not been banned. He is welcome to visit the UK and make as many speeches as his shrivelled heart desires. His problem is finding a venue which wants to be associated with his brand of witch burning shite.

Christianity wasn't "banned" in the UK. All that happened was that some venues banned a bigoted dickhead, who cannot be held to represent the Christian religion on any count. He's just an imposter who claims to be a Christian, but who is not. These venues may do what they wish, and they chose to not give a platform to such trash.

These venues have no obligation to give this fraud a forum. Judging from the posted link, the city councils concluded that his speech would offend their community values. He can go elsewhere to spew his hatred. Perhaps a local auditorium would rent to him.

His continued attempts to frame his views as representing the entire Christian faith is absolutely sickening. No matter what the headline screams (Christianity BANNED in the UK), there have been no reports that St. Paul's, Westminster Abbey, and Canterbury have been shut down.
