A series of fires blazed in the West Bank on Monday afternoon, in what the defense establishment suspects was an act of retaliation by extreme right-wing activists after several structures were dismantled in unauthorized outposts during the morning.

Palestinians reported that Jewish settlers set fire to dozens of dunams of Palestinian-owned land south of Nablus. In addition, settlers set fire to olive groves and fields belonging to the Burin and Asira villages near the settlement of Yitzhar in Samaria, human rights group Yesh Din said.

Other reports said two Palestinians were wounded after settlers hurled stones at their car near the Hawara checkpoint.

Palestinian firefighters were working to put out the flames, and the police and IDF launched an investigation into the fires.

On Monday morning, Civil Administration officials and border policemen arrived at the Adei Ad outpost and demolished an unauthorized caravan.

Later in the morning, authorities dismantled four structures in the Mitzpe Danni and Nofei Yarden outposts.

The Council of Binyamin Settlers issued a statement accusing the authorities of dismantling the structures because of a dispute with the settlers, who have filed a complaint against a Civil Administration employee.

We believe generally in the United States, we believe in ourselves and what a young country can achieve. Israel, since 1948, now a major factor in commerce and in the world. It's a smaller replica of what has been accomplished here and I think Americans admire that. They feel good about societies that are on the move.

This link does not lead to this story. Can you provide a better link to the story?

Also, Cast Lead was a response to the government of the Gaza strip enabling the firing of large numbers of rockets onto populated areas. Hamas was complicit in the launching of rockets, so the government of Israel dealt with Hamas.

In this story, what little comment there is by anyone in government makes clear that the actions of those setting fires in the west bank is seen as a felony which the government is investigating.

the accusation of setting fires to Olive groves is a perennial accusation by Palestinian supporters. The stories are sparse on proof and heavy on invective.

So, I don't know if the story even exists. It is clear from context it is not Israeli policy, as opposed to Hamas' policy of random rocket fire so the comparison to cast lead is odious and uncalled for. And the story is part of a pattern of Palestinian lies that goes back years. And you personally have a history.

The West Bank's correct name is the Hebrew Judah and Samaria, called Judah and Samaria for thousands of years, renamed the West Bank by Jordan when it stole the land during the '48 War.

The Judea Capta coins minted by the Romans 2000 years ago when they captured Jerusalem and Judah, verify the historical link between the land and the Jewish People.

Thus, Arabs are illegal squatters on sovereign Jewish land

Pulitzer Prize-Winning Writer Charles Krauthammer...
Israel is the very embodiment of Jewish continuity: It is the only nation on earth that inhabits the same land, bears the same name, speaks the same language, and worships the same God that it did 3,000 years ago. You dig the soil and you find pottery from Davidic times, coins from Bar Kokhba, and 2,000-year-old scrolls written in a script remarkably like the one that today advertises ice cream at the corner candy store.

Guy Milliere, Eminent Professor of History and Political Science, Sorbonne, Paris
No one had heard of a Palestinian people before the mid-1960s. They did not exist. Israel under the British Mandate until Israel' s Independence in 1948 was called Palestine. All Jews who were born there until i948 had the word « Palestine » stamped on their passports. The current Palestinians are those Arabs who, for a variety of reasons, decided to leave the land during the 1947 War of Independence, when five countries – Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq – attacked the 600,000 people in the fledgling state of Israel the day after its birth, hoping to kill it in the crib.

The 1948 war was called the war that wasn't.

Lebanon retrieved two of its villages that were taken by Israel but otherwise did not engage Israel.

Syria went a little way into Palestine for a few days then retreated.

Jordan was promised $3M a year for five years and the West Bank if it would not attack Israel. It did not.

Egypt did keep Israel from occupying the Gaza strip.

An armistice was called by UN Security Council resolution. Nobody lost that war. Lebanon lost no land. Syria lost no land. Jordan lost no land. Egypt lost no land. Palestine lost no land.
