The voyager 1 spacecraft, launched back in 1977, has gone beyond the range of the solar system.. Latest pictures....

In that band of color to the far right, about 1/2 down from the top of the frame is a light blue dot. That is us.

Just in case there are extra terrestrial intellegenes out there, they can read about us and listen to us on an old LP of copper and gold. It has sounds, greetings in 70 languages, and is so 20th century. Will they be able to figure out how to makes such ancient tech work?

Y'all don't really believe all this stuff do you? They filmed this thing in the Wal-Mart parking lot and there is no Voyager 1 space craft in the far reaches of the universe. That's what my grandmother would say if she were still alive. She never would believe that we put men on the moon. She swears it was all filmed in the desert. Grandmas are like that...

interesting question, I understand theres some written signage too, our system diagram, some, what we think are universal mathematical equations as well.....

It really is amazing that that little sucker is still operational after all this time. A good friend of mine from JPL pretty much had his entire career around that craft. He retired about three years ago but I am sure he was there when voyager crossed the boundary though!

It just goes to show how good things were made back in the day. It has far surpassed any expectations and intended lifetime.

Sounds of nature, human languages, animal sounds, images....I wonder if it will be recognizable at all to anyone that might find it and figure out how to play it?
