Vortex Causes Western Heatwave?

Rossby Waves developed from the polar vortex due to global warming (actually, the reduction in the delta T between the Equator and the North Pole) caused heat waves in Alaska, the US Northwest and British Columbia, Scandinavia, northeastern Europe and north central Russia. Intervening areas experienced severe cold. The global average temperatures was essentially unaffected.
