CDZ Violent crime in Britain, up 24%, Violent gun crime in U.S. down 75%, with our guns?

How is it possible that British violent crime, including gun crime has gone up...violent crime in total 24%, and gun crime by 10% in London and other major cities....

number of gun murders in the UK - 48 a year.
Number of gun murders in the US - 11,000 a year.

Statistics are meaningless compared to raw numbers.

The criminals in Britain have guns....they haven't used them to commit murder.....their gun control laws didn't stop them from getting or using guns...their criminal culture did....but that is changing....

The Brits are still better off than we are, because they don't have a gun culture.

Again, the problem isn't "criminals", it's people using their guns to make horrible mistakes in the home.

And gun crime is going up in Britain, not down......police report they have more guns on the streets than at any time in the past........they are about to enter the 1960s level of gun violence....the same we did in the 1960s.......
......violent crime has decreased over the last fifteen years in UK. With or without guns. Stop copy pasting false numbers.

tell me if gun control in the UK works then why is their murder rate not lower than it was before all the gun laws of the 60's were passed?

The murder rate in the UK is about the same as it was before all those gun laws you love were passed

our murder rate is about the same as it was in 1950 without all those gun laws so it seems to me gun laws in UK didn't do shit to lower the murder rate

yOu mean they got out ahead of a problem. Maintaining a low rate of murder is GOOD thing.

We didn't enact gun laws, and our gun murder rate spiked in the 1970's and onward, peaking in the 1990's until Demographics and the fact we lock up 2 million people just got the numbers down to "horrible".

Nope...you don't get to claim that...we went from 200 million guns in the 1990s...with 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997....to 357-400 million guns in private hands in 2016 with over 15 million people carrying guns for self defense ....

And our gun crime rate dropped 75%.....our gun murder rate dropped 49%......showing that guns in the hands of law abiding people is not the issue........

And Britain....they are seeing more and more guns...after the ban......their young males are killing more often..
Where, where did you find such numbers and what for do you propose British kill more often?:eusa_naughty:

No...it hasn't...it is now going up.....

Homicides in England and Wales up 14%

The police-recorded crime figures include a 9% rise in knife crime and a 4% rise in gun crime, which are thought to reflect a rise in gang violence largely in London and Manchester.

The rise in gun crime is the first recorded for eight years and includes a 10% rise in London.

The official statisticians say that a 36% rise in sexual offences, including the highest number of rapes since 2003 – at 33,341 – reflect a greater willingness of victims to come forward to report such crimes rather than a real surge in attacks.

And more guns...after the ban...

Rising number of guns being smuggled into UK, Metropolitan police say

More guns are being seized in cities across Britain as the number of firearms being smuggled into the country increases, Britain’s most senior police officer has said.

Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, the Metropolitan police commissioner, told a hearing at London’s City Hall that a rise in gun crime in the capital was being put down to an increase in the number of weapons coming into the country.

The Met seized a “worrying” record number of weapons in 2015, including semiautomatic guns, Hogan-Howe said.

“We’ve seized more firearms than ever before,” he said. “In the previous year [2015] we’ve seized 714 guns – that’s around two per day. In a city this size, that’s a worrying number. This is an increase on previous years. Some of them are semiautomatic weapons, too.

“If y
ou look around the big cities of the country, they are seeing a similar profile. Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool – they are seeing big rises as well.”

It's the same old article.. I already explained it. They changed the law on how crimes are cathegorized. And rapes are coming more and more into police's knowledge in all first world countries.

No, you didn't explain it.....we are talking gun crime, not sexual assault....and both of the articles point out an increasing problem with guns in the U.K. And those aren't the only articles on this....

Here are gun homicide number from Britain before and a year after the ban....notice how small they were before they banned guns...and the numbers didn't change......

House of Commons - Home Affairs - Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

Time Series Analysis of Firearms Crime in Britain

15. A time series study relating to Great Britain is a relatively simple process, but simplistic conclusions should not be drawn from it. However, if the thesis that more guns means more violent crime is correct, it must follow that fewer guns should mean fewer violent crimes. Home Office criminal statistics for England and Wales have given figures for the use of firearms in crime only for relatively modern times, prior to which the only information available was that from major cities, notably London, or from anecdotal and unreliable evidence.

All the evidence that can be found from these sources shows that when there were no controls on firearms the rate of armed crime was very low and it remained so until the mid 1960s when it began to escalate. But the rate of legal firearms ownership was declining and has continued to decline whilst the rate of armed crime has grown.

24. A simple examination of the numbers of firearm and shotgun certificates in England and Wales compared with tables for homicides and robberies involving a firearm from 1969 to 1997 set out below will show that there is no statistical relationship between the numbers of firearms legally held in Britain and the use of firearms in homicide or robbery.

26. Those figures illustrate that, though there has been a gradual increase in the use of firearms in homicide it has remained a fairly constant proportion of all homicides. The nature of those homicides will be discussed later. There has been an enormous increase in the number of robberies in which firearms are used but, though it fluctuates, but the proportion of such robberies has, until 1993, been a fairly constant proportion of a crime which must involve violence or the threat of violence.

Are gun crimes in England higher or lower than those in the United States where we have more legal guns?

Keep in mind I have a friggin firing Iowa Class as my avatar and I look hard enough I can change it to a pic of me shooting an AK. A gun hater I am not.

That isn't an accurate question....the right question is this.....is the gun crime rate in England the same, higher, or lower after they banned and confiscated guns in 1996....and the evidence shows that the gun crime rate in England did not change after they banned guns.....it spiked, then went back to the same level as before the ban...showing that guns are not the issue...guns in the hands of normal British citizens are not the issue in gun crime......

And the fact that gun crime has been increasing in Britain shows that their gun control laws are not stopping gun crime in Britain...

That their gun murder rate is lower than us....that is a difference in criminal culture...not gun ownership among law abiding people....their criminals, in the past, did not commit murder as easliy or as often as criminals in democrat voting districts in the United States....

I wouldn't have thought we would have the nerve to bring up violent crime and gun murders in our mostviolentcountrySo our gun murder rate is 6x the uk's, 3/100000 v's 0.1and theirs is going up?
Pathetic that people don't even know the UK def of violent crime is defined differently. Bashing someone at closing time is a violent crime.
Not so Here

Criminal culture? You mean someone kills their parents every 15 min? The Mississippi white boy who killed and dismembered his parents? The confederate states that lead in murders? What is Chicago again? 4 th after a couple of confed cites in murders?
Or is it the uppity nixxers again. The U.K. Has less brown people you know

Or maybe we are inherently a more violent culture. Country Started by immigrants, often the most aggressive and religious nuts. What do we expect?

Don't usually read more than 2 lines but Couldn't resist the democrat (noun, not adjective) in the middle of any thread!! A hoot

It is a hoot. I would have though gun crimes would be the last subject we should bring up.
And nit picking a country that has 6x less, not marginally less than we do is laughable.
Are we saying 350000000 guns here isn't enough?

But sandy hook was a misunderstood white boy. Not a member of the dreaded brown criminal culture.
Since 911 I think us white terrorists are slightly ahead of the Muslims in slayings 80 to 75? Omg 6 / year? An epidemic

And you don't understand the actual issue...British criminals have guns...lots of guns.....they simply don't use them to commit murder...they enacted gun control after 1996....and their gun crime rate did not change...so their gun control laws had no effect on their gun crime and their gun murder rate...except that it now went up 42% in London....

We on the other hand, went from 200 million guns to 357-400 million guns....and from 4.7 million people carrying guns legally for self defense to over 15 million people carrying guns for self defense...legally....

And our gun crime rate dropped 75%.

Our gun murder rate dropped 49%.

Our violent crime rate dropped 72%.....their violent crime rate went up 24% last year.....after they banned guns...

And no....a clerical change did not increase their crime rates.....nice try though.....

While gun murder in the U.S. has gone down 49% since the 1990s, and all violent crime went down 75% since the 1990s...as more Americans bought guns and now over 15 million Americans carry guns legally,,,?.

Well lets see- the UK firearm homicide rate is almost non-existent- compared to the United States.

I am glad that the fire arm homicide rate in the United States is coming down. Imagine how low it would be if we had as few guns in circulation as the UK?
