The Russians a liberal bunch when they were in Afghanistan?
We could deploy 1 million troops there and never, ever win anything other than every pitched battle.
Who is the opposition over there? How do we tell who they are?
Our own military says we can not win over there, said the same thing in Iraq.
It is THEIR war. All we do is try to help.
No way you twist it do those folks want allies. Their religous beliefs dictate their policy.
Let them kill each other and Allah can sort them out.

Americans won every major battle in VietNam but LBJ experts thought liberalism could re-invent warfare. We are doing it again in Afghanistan and stupid liberal concepts ain't working there either. You can't fight a war without taking and holding real estate. LBJ actually quit on National TV after the US finally won the greatest battle of the VietNam war after Tet. You can't make up these things. Democrats kill Americans for votes.

Yes, we won Tet. But big deal. We lost over 1000 KIA doing so.
We did win every battle over there. So what?
The South Vietnamese government was as corrupt as it gets. My brother was over there 3 years and stated NO sons of anyone in a high place in government were in the ARVN. None of them but our boys have to go. What a crock of shit. Ho was our ally in WWII. The "domino" theory was bogus to the core.
And the NVA lowered their draft up there to age 15 and had another 350,000 trained ready troops the next year after Tet.
Yes, we could have invaded the north and lost another 55,000 dead doing so.
And where would that have taken us?
You can not win any land war in Asia. They keep coming.
