Does the name Dearbornistan sound familiar?

Do people understand what is happening? Town by town, village by village, Europe is being swallowed whole. Do these people know what is actually happening to them, their cities, their countries? Their only option will come down to civil war. 1500 refugees move into small village From Isabella Sauer Bürgermesiter Andreas Albrecht (Watch video at link) Town of 60 to host 1,500 in an old discotheque “the brick factory.” Google translate is awkward but you ge the gist: Previously, in the discotheque “brickyard” dance and celebrate, now there should arise a first recording device: The country plans on the premises...

"stan" implies Persian background, not Levantine.

Sounds like the town had a large empty building that could be used to temporarily house refugees.

Yeah, that's why there are all of those Muslim countries in Africa that use the "stan" suffix ;)

Just because Americans can't tell the difference between a Persian concept and lingual tradition and an Arab one doesn't make it correct.

Also: Uganda isn't a Muslim majority country.

"correct"??? the connotation that gets ascribed to a given word------does not follow firm linguistic rules-------it just happens as a matter of usage
rules.

Seems silly to only judge its usage among uninformed members of a single country; while completely ignoring its actual historical and regional usage.

The usage of the word stan to denote any Muslim country is a symbol of ignorance of that part of the world. It showcases how little we tend to actually know about it within mainstream conversation. That's why I point it out.
