U.S. taxpayers' dollars are finding their way in to the pockets of the Taliban. That's according to a new congressional investigation about the military's use of Afghan security firms to ensure the safe passage of supply convoys. Almost without fail: if the U.S. doesn't pay up, the convoy gets attacked.

we spend money to pacify them from attacking convos, we give them market price for any opium we destroy in their fields, we replace their equipment that we damage even if its weaponary and such, on and on.

it was a huge deal a year or two ago when I think an english group of troops had held an area for a few months by paying the taliban in the mountains off, and then spanish replaced them didn't pay them off (the english didn't relay the info on) and the next week the taliban ambushed the spanish and killed everyone in the group.

we have been in afgh since the late 80s (russian invasion) just like we were in iraq since the early 90s and had been "covertly bombing" them the entire time all the while enforcing sanctions on them that let over a million children starve
