Video Killed The Radio Star - leaving aside it was the one that launched MTV.

Good in its own right.

My fav after Ticket To Ride.

Def of a good music vid - when it gets over too quickly - not those that you can't wait to end

Let's see... The Buggles... Trevor Horn and Geoff Downs....

Both joined Yes for a brief period, Geoff Downs was 1/4 of Asia. Trevor Horn has been producing, writing songs, and running a music publishing business. He was a founding member of Art of Noise (boy did they suck). Downs is still active with Asia, did a side project with John Whetton last year, and did a Buggles gig with Horn back in September. He works as a producer as well.

Buggles: the ulimate 1 shot wonders - but what a shot.....................

Good morning my TV
The only one who appreciates me
I have come to turn you on
We make a perfect team
I love you and I think you love me too
Let's spend the day at home, alone

Just you and me, you and me
You and me, my TV

You got cartoon shows
Talk shows and horror shows
Fill my head up with trash
But I like it that way
On my TV every day now
You make me forget the rest

Just you and me, you and me
You and me, my TV with your shining screen
You make me laugh and cry and scream
Sometimes you make me dream of you
Oh, yeah

Goodnight, sweet TV
I hope you can forgive me
I have come to switch you off
For I must go to bed
And rest my weary head
Tomorrow we can do it over again

MTV had the foresight (I think ) to see that the whole video on TV thing was doomed.

It had its moment and then I suspect that the programmers realized that the NET was going to break MTV's monopoly of video music presentation.

So they went into "real life" soap operas to capture their audience's attention.

we´ve got here on pay-tv a brandnew music sender:

"mtv music" (no kidding)

that means, a music television sender that plays music!

Isn´t that amazing? quite a revolutionary idea?

No doubt there are TV viewing niches that some enterprising capitalist can turn into a pay-per-view business.

Nevertheless, MTV is, I think, not a good business model for general viewing, anymore.

Way too competition for ears (and eyes, since its video) coming from the net.
