Questions About Target’s Security Following Parking Lot Attack

DALLAS -- The brutal attack on Derek Whitener at the Target on Haskell is so scary, because it's something that can happen to any of us.

He remains in critical condition as cops search for his attackers.

"These men may have been wearing masks, possibly gorilla masks," Derek Whitener's attorney, Chris Hamilton, told NewsFix. "Derek was scared and reported the incident to store security,"

According to Derek's attorney, when he walked back to the parking lot, the suspects beat him with a wooden rod.

Now, there are major questions about how Target handled the situation.

"We have two dangerous men reported with weapons in front of the store by the victim in advance, asking for help, and they allow him to walk outside on his own, into an ambush. We have concerns Target's actions not only didn't protect Derek, but may have made the situation worse."

Target says they've given all surveillance video to police during the investigation. They also issued the following statement:

Why is there no information about the attackers in the article? The video shows two blacks, but they neglect to say that in the video or write it in the article.

Just more anti-white racists from the progressive black community. Congrats libs, you all know how to incite violence very well.

I boycotted Target a few years ago. There just seems to be something odd going on. I'm hardly a spring chicken and they wouldn't sell me beer without ID. OK, I'll go along with the brain dead policy but they wanted to take my driver's license and scan it into their database. I said no and goodbye.

your target sells beer?.....

So now every retail store has to provide armed guards to the far reaches of parking lots?

Walk every customer to the car?

Or what? Stench from bench make them pay billions?

masked men in the parking lot...target should have called the police and ask everyone to stay inside till the police dealt with the issue

They might have to.

Bed Bath and Beyond on Olympic provides an escort for customers spending more than $200.

Men wearing masks?

They were probably trying to use the ladies room.

I choked up spewed coffee thinking, sorry granny you only spent $59.98. You are on your own....

you have to pay for your safety....i have never ask for an escort bu would assume anyone needing one would be provided one...

OK. You pay for your safety, I don't want to pay for your "expectations".

I see new market opening up. Rent a guard walker $5.

Yes, and wine, both of them. Grocery stores sell hard liquor now as well as of a couple of years ago.

That might work somewhat but I predict the scum would run to courts for some other scam. People want it all.....as long as I pay. You can't legislate common sense.

Oregon is a shall-issue concealed carry permit state.

So in Oregon there is no fokking excuse for getting mugged.

You simply carry your pistol at the 3 oclock belt position under your jacket, and when someone or more in a gorilla mask approaches you, you draw and shoot.

Jeeze.

Store security? What in the Hell is the store security supposed to do for you?

One suspicious person would not worry me too much.

I would simply keep them in view and keep them at a distance.

Two or more would give me some concern.

Either way I am not stupid enough to walk into am ambush like a child.

A gorilla mask is definitely suspicious.

Negroes are definitely suspicious.

He did tell security there were men in masks in the parking lot and they did nothing, from my understanding. If true, then yes, they should have checked it out, or called the cops to, imo.
