It is hard to imagine the suffering, the courage and determination of the French in WWI. Almost a big an enemy as the Germans were the French and English generals. The U.S. did not save France, but Americans were warmly welcomed into the fight, and into France. They always have been. We have always won as allies, and France is the oldest ally the U.S. has.
