Vice President Cheney doesn't look so good

See, Bush was committed to winning the wars. Troops support that. The current jackass in the White House is content to let young men die until he can find an endgame that works for him politically.

Maybe the 'jackass' knows, as anybody with a semblence of knowledge of history about the ME, there is no way a war can be won (especially in Afghanistan). And if you believe that Obama is 'content' about anybody dying, then you are truly showing your colours...

But you assume Cheney was content about people dying.

Not that I think Obama is handling the wars well, But to say Bush was committed to winning is a stretch IMO.

he thought Both wars would be easy, and lacked a real plan to deal with them when it became clear he was wrong.

I will never forgive him and the Republicans for Getting us into Iraq when Afghanistan was unfinished. Then allowing Afghan to back slide to what it is now.

Bush initiated a war with Iraq while having no solid end game, and the most egregious error after the victory was the outsourcing of logistics and some security to private vendors, notably Halliburton and Blackwater. They were far more costly and far less effective than if the military had taken control of both areas.

I truly think Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld truly thought that private business could wage war and the aftermath better than government. They were wrong, and General Shinseki told them they were wrong.

Can't argue with that at all.

I was a rare Conservative Screaming that we should not invade Iraq when we had not won in Afghanistan, but my pleas went unheard.

I think Bush thought the war would end when Saddam was removed. The fool could not see that, that was when the real shit would start.

Wow. The hatred is quite telling.

Criticize his policies is you must, but taking pleasure in his heart condition is beyond the pale.

Go door knocking on the families of those who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and see how much sympathy you get..from a guy who got more than 5 deferments no less...I hope he dies a painful and slow death. This guy has got blood on his hands - literally...

liberal compassion?

I have no compassion for bad people....especially those that cost others their lives...

So since Obama is expanding the war in Afghanistan, you want him to "die a slow painful death??"

Almost every veteran here in my home town opposed the invasion. We did not see the danger that apparently Bush did. I remember sighing when on an interview he said if he had know the WMD were not to be found that he would not have invaded.

Since we can't "win" victory in a way that will stabilize Afghanistan and make Pakistan's nukes absolutely secure, then we need to withdraw. Our window to "win" there ended when the window of opportunity closed in March 2003 as resources were diverted to Iraq.

He's trying to make the best out of a bad situation. If he had started the war, sure. You know and I know that you just can't 'get out', although with Afghanistan you might as well...

Sorry, nobody will ever win in Afghinstan... ever....Too hilly, too much of a tribal society. The best you could hope for is semi-civilised cities, and even then you'd be pushing shit up hill..

Whatever elements of the party under Rohm were (many homosexual and socialist), Hitler was not. He threw his lot in with big business and killed Rohm and more than 200 of his supporters in the Night of the Long Knives.

maybe avatar takes "national socialist" at face value.
