Veterans & War

The key issue that you need to base criticism for the VA is the fact that the Obama administration authorized bonuses (at taxpayer expense) for VA administrators who saved money. The easiest way to save money was by making up a secret death list and allow Veterans to die without "unnecessary" medical treatment that would only prolong their lives for another year or two. Every VA administrator who accepted a federal bonus and authorized a death list should be indicted for negligent homicide.

Really.

Let's get one thing straight: I despise Obama. He's the biggest joke and embarrassment ever. Jimmy Carter is probably his biggest fan, having moved to the Number 2 slot of losers.

However, the President urging government agencies to cut costs is hardly putting a death warrant on anyone. The message is lost from the top to the bottom.

Middle-level management and below only know :the President wants ..." I used to watch this crap in the military. General officers were so insulated by the Colonel's and below they really never had a clue what the reality was. By the time it got to the President it was "we have no American troops on Iraqi soil". Boots on the ground was we were in and out of Iraq whenever we pleased. Note: we are talking pre-Second Gulf War.

Obama may be a dolt. But holding him personally responsible for the miserableness of the VA is the same as holding any president previous responsible.

The VA's a bureaucratic piece of garbage. It's the responsibility of the American people who put people in office that allow this crap to go on.

This is a buzzword issue. Obama will put a band-aid on it and it'll blow over. 'Til next time. In the meantime, the people will be told this and that was done to address the issue. Right. Like it has every time before.

Vets and retirees serve no more purpose. We're a captive audience. The President and Congress cut our benefits, and we have nothing to say. The bureaucracy willingly carries it out.

What do you think: if a local government sponsored a retirement home with taxpayer dollars and it was found that the home was killing patients because the local government awarded bonuses for saving money ...everybody would go to jail. No matter how hard democrat activists try they can't blame Bush and they can't blame the republican majority in congress. The Obama administration authorized 25 million dollars to VA administrators to kill patients in order to show a savings on the crooked federal books.

How many times have we been warned about a candidate that is going to finish off America as president? We have had presidents accused of being fascists, communists, socialists, and Democrats, ironically we elected one candidate that was not going to finish off America and he has been rated as America's worst president. No, not Bush, Bush was rated fifth worst.
Come to think of it maybe candidates that are going to finish off America make the best presidents?

To regent: It’s not about finishing off the country. It’s about transforming the country. To be precise, finishing off what the country once was. Democrats have been working on doing just that through most of the last century. Your boy even says he wants to transform the country. His rhetoric implies that he wants to protect the weak and the powerless in order to make the country a better place. If you examine his agenda you will see that his “transformation” is only better for the ruling and parasites classes.

Taqiyya is now listed as the worst president for good reason. In order to transform the country America must lose wars they did not start. Americans must surrender their independence to the United Nations, their country to mass migrations, and their liberties to the federal government for starters. Those major changes, and much more, have been his goals long before he was a US Senator.

On the plus side, nothing can be set in cement until after the Constitution is abolished. Not so much abolished by repeal, but abolished so that Americans know and accept the fact that their Constitution no longer carries any weight in the law or anywhere else.

Interestingly, Taqiyya the Liar’s technique is not original. His kind have been known for thousands of years:

PLATO

The people always have some champion whom they set over them and nurse into greatness. . . . This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector. Plato (427? - 327? BC)

Finally, the Democrat party’s torchbearer, Hillary Clinton, is cut from the same cloth as Taqiyya the Liar as I tried to show in #19 permalink.

So this is just an anti-Hillary post? I'll wait till the movie comes out. I have been through a lot of presidential campaigns and they all seem about the same. The candidate on the other side is going to destroy America, the Constitution, and turn America into a Fascist, Communistic, Socialistic, nation.
I thought the birth certificate thing was sort of new and had some possibilities, but then it was dropped.

You all can comment all you want about the VA but like so many others you put the problem(s) in to one hat and blame everyone at the VA.

The major problem lies in getting into the system. Once you have your letter granting service connection you then get scheduled in to see a primary care physician. The problem is at the front. Getting your authorization/service connection letter can take forever especially if your records are incomplete. Once that letter is received it may also take a very long time to get into see a doctor. The extensive wait lists or phony lists are a part of the VA Administration Procedural guidelines to make Reports and Administrators look good. Therein lies the problem, the administrative side of the house.
Once in the system and you have seen your doctor your scheduled appointments are provided as dictated by your medical requirements.

Couple the administrative problems with the fact that our Government, the President and Congress, did not adequately prepare the medical structure for the number of casualties. I guess they thought we would all come back with just a few scratches.

I have been using the VA for over 20 years, have had a few surgeries and am being treated as well or better than many of my civilian friends in the civilian medical system.

I think the VA has a priority system and those vets with no service-connected may not receive the prompt care a 100% service-connected is given. I remember when non service vets were told if a bed is available. Does the VA still treat non service-connected? Would it be better if the government just treated all vets the same? My daughter had 70% and had great care.

Pretty much dead on. The VA was still using a paper based system up until recently, and maybe still does, which of course slowed down the front.

Also, the number of doctors who will work for the VA system at reduced pay rates compared to the private sector is a big factor, given the huge case loads coming down on them.

Maybe it's time for the VA to open a training hospital to train doctors, nurses and so forth. Once trained at government expense the new hospital personall would owe a time-period to the government. I think most of the gunshot training is now done in inner city hospitals?

Under Trump in 2017, the number of veterans experiencing homelessness increased for the first time since 2009. Homelessness among veterans dropped 45 percent since 2009. The drastic increase during the past year was almost entirely accounted for by increases among unsheltered veterans in major cities. There were 12 percent more individuals with chronic patterns of homelessness in 2017 than in 2016, after it declined by 40 percent since 2007. Unlike other increases in the last year, the increase in chronic homelessness included both sheltered populations (8% increase) and unsheltered populations (14% increase).

Trump voters think he loves vets because he makes black NFL players salute the flag. Who cares if Trump trashed their VA healthcare & made 14% more of them homeless, because at least he ain't Obama or Clinton. "Oorah!!!"
