I drove from Detroit to the Keys in June. 3200 miles round trip.

But that was for 2 weeks.

for a week trip i would not do more than 12 hours each way.....a 12 hour drive is enough and chews up at least 3 days of your vacation...the 1/2 day it takes to recover the next day counts..

a long weekend ...i normally wont do more than 6 hours...so i can leave in the afternoon and get somewhere before midnight.

now i have been on some kick ass road trips where it was balls to the wall to get somewhere but we were younger then...

A few hundred miles. Flying is much quicker and easier.
