VA doles out $100M for homeless vets

How does one become "homeless" after serving honorably in the Armed Forces for a couple of years? You get admittedly substandard free health care at V.A. hospitals and a G.I. Bill maintenance check from Uncle if you attend an accredited college course. How does a young healthy guy with leadership experience and skills learned in the greatest Military in the world end up living in a cardboard box on the street? Unless a Vet. is suffering from a physical disability from Military Service frankly I don't think the U.S. government has a responsibility to make sure his living conditions are suitable once he is discharged.
