Utah is a terroist state

More states that just Utah have similiar legislation pending.
Will all the legislators who vote yea be joining von Nothaus in prison?

Nawwww........... the law will simply be ruled unconstitutional. States don't make monetary policy, the feds do.

There is nothing unconstitutional about a state accepting other forms of currency for the trading of goods and services. It's been happening for years.

Utah legislators want to see the dollar regain its former glory, back to the days when one could literally bank on it being "as good as gold."To make that point, they've turned it around, and made gold as good as cash. Utah became the first state in the country this month to legalize gold and silver coins as currency.
The Associated Press: Gold, silver coins to be legal currency in Utah

I can only assume Anne M. Tompkins will push for these legislators' prosecution for this 'unique form of domestic terrorism' and trying to undermine the legitimate currency of this country.

Minting a coin is "terrorism?" Next you'll claim that making pottery is murder.

I'm curious to know how they intend on making currency with silver and gold. Both metals are worth so much more than dollars. Plus the value fluxuates so much too.

Gold doesn't fluctuate. The dollar does.

So, now you wingnuts want the economy limited to the amount of gold we have. A whole lot of people should prepare to starve.

So you believe the economy didn't grow when we were under the gold standard?

Are there any other idiocies you would like to get off your chest?

Using the available information, at $2,000 per ounce, there is approximately $10 trillion dollars worth of gold on the planet. The US economy's annual production is more than that. Utah is just the latest GOP example of 'stupid'.

The price of goods will adjust to match the quantity of gold available to purchase them. Stupid" is the believe that the exchange rate between goods and money is fixed. History has demonstrated emphatically that precisely the opposite is the case. That's why we have inflation, dipstick.

I support Utah 100%..

The US dollar is worth shit....

If its the collapse of the US dollar or socialism, I'll take the collapse of the US dollar any day of the week.

Many states are going to start manifesting and excepting gold or local currencies. Many towns are starting to do this...

Its nothing new.

But I wouldn't expect liberals to understand this...

He no doubt also believes that a gold standard puts us at the mercy of miners. This is akin to a paper dollar standard putting us at the mercy of paper companies.

The law is really more symbolic than anything. It is Utah saying HEY the DOLLAR is going to collapse if we don't stop Borrowing and printing money.

What you guys fail to grasp is if the Collapse of the Dollar ever comes, the Gold standard will be our only salvation.

Oh, you'd be right in theory but its not like Utah has the power to change the dollar using gold, even if it did become their official currency.

You gotta remember Utah has gold - a lot of it - and many prospectors to boot, so it would actually make sense.

In stead of exchanging your gold for the useless US dollar - why not exchange it for goods??

There is no point in exchanging gold for US dollars today... And some are so far out in the middle of no where that it be illogical to do so.

They worry about putting us at the mercy of gold miners, but they are totally unconcerned about putting us at the mercy of the federal reserve that can create 100 trillion dollars at the touch of a button.

Utah is not establishing a gold standard. No one is going to pay their debts in gold, especially of one ounce of gold is the equivalent of $35. It's purely a symbolic gesture. If Utah could print it's own currency exchangeable in gold, that would be another matter altogether.

Why does a gold standard not put us at the mercy of miners?

It is not akin to the paper companies. It costs about $800 to take an ounce of gold out of the ground. It costs about 0.08 cents to create a piece of paper.

I see you don't understand quotations.

I blame your functional illiteracy on the education system.

You answered your own question: it takes $800 to take an ounce of gold out of the ground. that makes it a little difficult for miners to flood the world with gold.

On the other hand, the federal Reserve can create $100 trillion at the touch of a button, and you are totally unconcerned about that.

What's the issue?

people have to use money to buy gold. gold is traded world wide.

Excuse me if I don't see the connection between desperately trying to save your local economy and randomly killing innocent people.
