I like when justices that are supposedly on opposite sides rule together. It gives me some confidence that the USSC doesn't just rule based on individual political beliefs.

I like when justices that are supposedly on opposite sides rule together. It gives me some confidence that the USSC doesn't just rule based on individual political beliefs.

Concur. Yet, the case was "solved" based on standing, denying that the Republicans in the Virginia House can represent the State before the court. That technicality found support by otherwise uncommon bedfellows. No telling what will happen once a gerrymandering case will be resolved on the merits, but my guess would be the groups would form quite differently. For now, assuming the reporting by CNN is valid, I am just happy this odd coalition saw to it that the next election in the Commonwealth will be a fair(er) one.
