9 are already in service. The EPF will reach speeds of 35–45 knots (65–83 km/h; 40–52 mph and carries troops and equipment.

One thing I've noticed is a lack of articles about problems with these craft. As it's an MSC vessel, it probably has a majority civilian crew.

Story @ Navy christens expeditionary fast transport USNS Burlington

says it's an ''intra-theater'' craft
Bridging the gap between low-speed sealift and high-speed airlift, EPFs transport personnel, equipment and supplies over operational distances with access to littoral offload points including austere, minor and degraded ports in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT)/Theater Security Cooperation Program (TSCP), Intra-theater Operational/Littoral Maneuver and Sustainment and Seabasing
The US Navy -- Fact File: Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF)
it doesn't appear it can carry vehicles for 300 troops/Marines
or does it?
how would the troops get around once landed?
I was stationed on the LSTs--now decommissioned
it could hold about 400 troops and AAVs

how does it get to it's operating theater if it isn't made for the ocean? or is it?
