ok so some say video games and violent movies aren't the cause for America's youth turning to guns? The U.S. Army disagrees with THOSE WHO DO THINK THIS.

Doesn't the Army have a game you can download directly from their site?

I believe they do or at least use too.
America
The game features a number of training missions to get you familiar with the controls as well as learning the roles and weapons of a Special Forces soldier. Roles include Weapons Specialist (18B), Intelligence (18F), Engineer (18C), Communications (18E) and Combat Medic (18D). Other game features include:

Challenging Green Beret training - Complete training missions drawn from the SFAS process at Fort Bragg. Successfully complete SFAS and advance to Special Forces Qualification Course (Q-Course) missions to explore new Special Forces roles.

Intense Special Forces action - Intense Special Forces action - Experience multiplayer missions in simulated combat combat environments. Take part in missions that span the capabilities of a Special Forces detachment, including unconventional warfare, direct action, surveillance and reconnaissance and Combat Search and Rescue.

Detailed Special Forces equipment and military hardware - Building on the equipment available in America's Army: Operations, America's Army: Special Forces adds the M4 Carbine featuring the Picatinny rail mod system for attaching laser-aiming devices and sighting systems; the MP5SD6 Remington 870 shotgun for forced entry; the AT4, a shoulder-fired anti-tank rocket and the BDM, a shoulder-fired bunker demolition munition.

Accurate Soldier behavior - Players are bound by the laws of land warfare, Army values (honor, duty and integrity) and realistic rules of engagement as they navigate challenges in teamwork-based multiplayer force vs. force operations. Mission accomplishment standings are evaluated based on team effort and adherence to a set of values and norms of conduct.

And I should care what the armies opinion is because.....

You were in the military, were you not? The military has some of the most convoluted and asinine thought processes I have ever seen. Outside of killing the bad guy, the opinion of the military on socal matters means exactly squat to me.

Fact: such games and media are experienced all over the world. Funny thing is, it does not seem to be effecting others nearly as much.

Video games are not the source of our woes. That is simply asinine.

of course video games don't dumb down young minds, of course violent movies do nothing to dull the senses of young impressionable minds. Of course you're right. How could I have ever thought such a thing. OH and how about music Jared Loughner listen to Anti-Flag. Am I also wrong about this?

I don't really care what he listened to.

To believe that music and games makes a normal or unlikely murderer suddenly kill children, movie goers, or anyone for that matter is simply insane.

You want to know where these people come from? Some are just crazy. Nothing you can do about that. Others have shit parents. Yet others are on some drug from their psychologist. Video games, music and movies are just patsies that have nothing to do with this. Hundreds of Millions of people are exposed to these things daily. Extremely small numbers of them actually harm others. There are far more culpable reasons than games.

OK the key word here is NORMAL, mentally ill people aren't normal people. Yes I agree video games music and violent movies do not have any affect on normal people but it does seem to have a connection to mentally ill people and could be the twiggier that sets them off.

Twiggier? All right Fudd, is that an ACME device :D
J/K, I am not the spelling police but I thought that was funny.

Anyway, that could be a possibility though the OP did not say anything about making that type of connection. Also, you would need more actual evidence to make such a claim. However, in the spirit of good debate, lets just say you were correct. I don't think you are but it really does not matter. If it were 100 percent true it still means nothing. You cannot limit the production of games and software because of what it MIGHT do to someone that is crazy or sensitive to such stimuli. That argument IS THE EXACT SAME ARGUMENT THE GUN GRABBERS USE. Essentially, we should outlaw guns because someone, somewhere might go nuts and use them to kill. We should limit media and games because someone, somewhere MIGHT be triggered to kill because of the,. There is no difference in the arguments. Both are completely wrong and counter to a free society.
