Quito, May 13 (Prensa Latina) The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which has been lately linked to anti-Cuban subversive plans, already has a deadline to leave Ecuador in the wake of its refusal to comply with the rules established by the local government regarding cooperation.
According to press reports released here, the date for USAID's leaving the country has been set for September 30, when three projects being executed now are expected to be complete.

However, USAID had its days numbered here since December after refusing to sign an agremeent with the government of President Rafael Correa to set the terms of cooperation and the nature of the projects.

"We don't need USAID's charity, which is often selfishly offered to serve its own interests," said the president then.

Correa added that the country needs technology transfers and investments, which is not observed in the case of cooperation provided by USAID.

His opinion was later corroborated by Techncal Secretary of International Cooperation of Ecuador, Gabriela Rosero, wjo said that most of the 32 million USD invested by USAID in the past six years in Ecuador have been used for private projects and management expenses of non governmental organizations.

Director of USAID in Ecuador, Jeannie Friedman, warned yesterday that from the moment USAID leaves Ecuador, the US support "will be different."

Ya, well, guess what Friedman, you operated with deception and you made the US look like shit. At this point, your arrogance is not helping.
